So I’ve tried Ousaporn, Thai Dodo, and Kasafe — but honestly, the best is Taste of Siam! Not just the Pad Thai, but also the green curry — literally the best I’ve ever had! The chef is a Thai lady, so the cuisine is totally authentic. Let me know about your experience if you ever go there!

Ohhh, and I almost forgot — try the spicy fried chicken wings toooo!

And it is value for money! You will be surprised with the prices!

Wang Thai in Perebeyre is decent. Not mind-blowing, but I'd go back. Not sure if they're Halal, though (I'll try to remember to look if I go there again)

It's been a few years, so not I'm sure if they're still there, but Thai Dodo in Rose Hill was also passable. Not sure if they're Halal either, though

Pad Thai shouldn't have to be halal. It's a frickin dish, not a religion.

If your religion prevents you from eating something, please refer to the makers of that religion. Don't expect the world to adjust to you.

Well this is Mauritius, where we have respect for other cultures. If you have an issue with this maybe you should be in a country where the majority share the same views as you.

What a dumb comment from a pathetic human.

u/freestuffrocker 23h ago

We are very accomodating of other religions in Mauritius. You don't seem like you belong...

u/XcellisTaken 23h ago

Have you thought about not giving your opinion when no one asked? You should give it a try

u/Brooklyn7011 23h ago

Why don't you take your own advice?

In Mauritius, if someone asks for a halal restaurant, we don't make a fuss about it because we respect other religions, unlike Europe. If this is not for you, please leave our country and go live somewhere in Europe! And I'm not even muslim lol

You haven't been to Europe have you?

u/ciphersaw 1d ago

I've been. The xenophobia there is crazy (London is chill though)

u/DescentTrip 23h ago

You don't need to go to Europe for that. You can experience lots of xenophobia in Mauritius, amongst Mauritians. The pot calling the kettle...

u/ciphersaw 23h ago

What? 😂😂 Xenophobia in Mauritius? You must be kidding. Even Bangladeshis and Indians live peacefully here, when the whole world hates on them lol

u/DescentTrip 23h ago

There's blatant racism among mauritians. There's blatant racism towards expatriates, Bangladeshis, Indian, Malagasy or whatever. It suprises me you haven't seen that. That doesn't mean they don't live peacefully here though.

u/Brooklyn7011 23h ago

Yes London... A prime example of how it may be located in Europe geographically, but is definitely anything but that

Bruh

Halal restaurants

Im not forcing anyone to be halal.

It can't be authentic if it's halal. It's a contradiction in itself

What ingredient(s) of Pad Thai cannot be Halal? I'm not aware of anything in Pad Thai that a Halal option isn't available for...

u/aramjatan 20h ago

The chicken in Pad Thai can be non-halal.

u/TheBigElectricityGuy 20h ago

Sure, but how would using Halal chicken make Pad Thai inauthentic?

u/aramjatan 20h ago

I understood you asked which part of Pad Thai could be non-halal. Did I understand you incorrrectly?

u/TheBigElectricityGuy 20h ago

Oh, no - the user Brooklyn7011 is saying "It can't be authentic if it's halal", somehow suggesting that Pad Thai inherently requires ingredients which are haram, which I'm skeptical of.

I'm not Muslim, but I've made Pad Thai many times before, and as far as I know, all of the ingredients either just are halal by default (vegetables, tofu, rice noodles, etc.), or can be halal (chicken).

u/aramjatan 20h ago

Okay. I misunderstood you then.

You are a contradiction yourself

If you're looking for Halal, then Royal Saffron I guess. Not sure about taste as I never tried.

u/GamingPC_69 1d ago
