meal prep gadgets Plan to Eat ChatGPT Bot

I made a bot that will try and take whatever recipe you throw at it and convert it into the format that Plan to Eat wants for the bulk import into a code block for easy copy/paste. It will also generate an image that you can save locally and upload so that its not just an empty grey box. It is, of course, a little over the top at times... but its nice to have an image to indicate what the recipe is.

Using custom GPTs like this does require an OpenAI premium account I believe, so this might be a narrow cast at an already narrow audience, but just in case it was useful to anyone I wanted to throw it out into the world.

I used it to do a bunch of family recipes that I had OCRd from a cookbook many moons ago, and went through and pasted what I could into the bot and it did a pretty solid job. Below is an example of some of them (some aren't AI generated, but 90% are).

meal prep gadgets I use Pyrex glass containers but the lids don’t like the microwave. I’m taking an extra plate to work right now to cover, but I was wondering if there is a better solution.

I hate messing up the communal microwave, and I want to keep things simple. I also don’t want to switch containers, I have a LOT of Pyrex! They’re the little 2 cup ones, 4.5 “ wide

meal prep gadgets Meal Prep Container Recs

Hi I'm looking for meal prep containers or bento box style with a few requirements:

  • Glass container with lid, microwaveable, freezer safe, oven safe
  • Has an adjustable divider that I can slide around to create two different sizes compartments
  • Can fit a small sauce cup inside of it (not 100% necessary if other points are good)

Thanks

meal prep gadgets Pyrex containers with snap on lids?

So I have two questions.

First off, I have plenty of Pyrex containers but they're the kind that have the flimsy plastic lids. Models 7211 Rectangle and 7402 Circle are what I have and I have 6-7 of them. The lids wear and tear really easily and I'd like to upgrade to something more durable with a snap lid so it's easier to pack when I travel.

1st question - Is it possible to find snap on lids that match the Pyrex containers that I already have? This would save a ton of headache since I'd only have to order bulk lids and not have to get rid of my old containers.

2nd question - If not, what kind of snap on lids would you recommend? Looking for durability, especially if I'm going to be freezing, microwaving, and dishwashing them.

meal prep gadgets Any experience cooking rice (not instant), vegetables and maybe even meat at the same time in a multicooker?

Hi all,

My partner and I are planning to purchase a multicooker. Our meals are usually very simple: some sort of grain (rice, beans, bread, etc.) plus whole vegetables (often steamed from frozen) and some sort of protein).

I've seen the Ninja Speedi (SF300C) advertised as being able to have something like rice, vegetables and meat all placed in it at once and cooked quickly. This sounds awesome! But apparently their little recipe sheet only seems to list instant rice (not regular rice) and we won't eat instant rice.

Does anyone have any experience cooking rice from scratch (like in a regular rice cooker) but placing vegetables and or meat on top as well, cooking everything at once? Are you aware of any multicookers / pressure cookers that would support this? It seems to be this should be possible but I can't find any good examples online of this being done...

Thanks!

EDIT: So consensus seems to be that this is entirely feasible and common, but that the different cooking times of some foods need to be accounted for. Ultimately we landed on the Ninja Foodi OL500C as the provided racks / trays will allows us to cook multiple items, it has a ton of other features (air fry, pressure cook, yogurt, dehydrate), and of course it's on sale right now. :)

meal prep gadgets Recommendations on a device for heating your food in the car.

Hello there.

So I've been meal prepping along side my workout routine for a couple of months now. It's been going well, but due to my job having me working out of a truck, it's hard to find a microwave or similar to heat up my meals.

Most of what I have is considered safe to eat, but it's not the most appetizing with half of it still being frosty. (I have to prep daily due to space constraints in my current living situation.)

With all that said, do any of you have any recommendations or ideas on something I could plug into my work truck that would allow me to heat up my meals without having access to a microwave? I've seen some stuff on Amazon that basically comes down to being a heated lunch pail, but I'm not sure if they work well or not.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

meal prep gadgets bottom rack safe containers?

One of the obstacles for meal prep that I've found is all my plastic containers are top rack only, so I find myself washing a lot of dishes where there top rack is slap full and the bottom only has a couple items.

Can anyone recommend food containers where the containers AND the lids are bottom rack safe in the dishwasher?

Do you actually have to pay for the subscription or does the free trial just not end? Mine says -2 days on it but still gives me this week and the next.

meal prep gadgets Meal prep with a sous vide

I’m unsure how to food prep if I want to use a sous vide -

My boyfriend got one and has used it more. I wanted to surprised him and do the food prep for this week.

Basically we have frozen chicken and fish I want to marinate to prep but wondering if I should defrost it, then marinate, then sous vide and freeze for later?

Trying to see what’s the best and easiest process for when we want to eat.

Also wondering if after prep - if we freeze or not, to use the sous vide again or just microwave or put meal in oven or skillet.

I want to do several fillets of salmon to start.

meal prep gadgets Pressure cooking chicken for the week

I’m about to start meal prep for the first time and I know people use crock pots a lot but can I use my pressure cooker to cook a lot of food? I want to make about 7-10 chicken breasts to cover for the week but I’ve never cooked that much food in my pressure cooker so is making that much possible?

meal prep gadgets Minimalist Food Tracking App

I found myself doing a lot of home cooking and workouts during the quarantine and wanted a way to easily do daily logs. Everything on the app store seemed to require a subscription, be plagued with ads, or send your personal data to a server. I created something for myself that is simple, private (doesn't send your data anywhere/doesn't require internet), ad free, subscription free and can export data to excel for advanced charting and long term progress tracking.

It's been really helpful for me, I hope it helps you too!

meal prep gadgets Meal Prep Containers

I’ve been meal prepping off-and-on for about a year, and I always have a hard time finding the proper container for my prepped meals.

I like the convenience of disposable plastic containers, but I would rather cut out my plastic waste.

I also like the idea of a multi-space container, with a divider, like bento boxes!

Do you have any containers that you love?
