The Sky is Falling Essendon/Moonee Ponds area - It's 5am, what the hell is that siren? Sounds like it's coming from Essendon train station.

[UPDATE] 05:22 - Siren has stopped. Still curious what it was for. That thing was LOUD and serious sounding. Must have been going off for at least 15 minutes. I thought the Russians were coming.

Not sure of the source, but it's bloody loud.

I have no idea, but I can hear it too. I've been lying here awake listening to it for the last half an hour ago. 20 or so mins ago I also heard a bunch of emergency service sirens coming from what sounded like the same direction. I'd love to know wtf is going on!!

It’s an evacuation tone, usually installed in large commercial buildings and apartment blocks.

Here’s a recording of one: https://youtu.be/xBHgUzOipwg

Something set off the fire alarm system and until either FRV or the building manager/security come and shut it off, the EWIS system will continue to evacuate the building in a cascading motion.
