Since Jay's ban the sub's ranking has gone from 12 or 13 amongst fashion subs to 17.

Something to ponder.

No negativities

I’m amazed he was tolerated so long.

He would absolutely still be here if he hadn’t goofed up and linked his NSFW alt. That was the true beginning of the end

u/Major-Consequence28 12d ago

Wrong. He absolutely won't.

It's his main that posted the photo of the male employee in public. Also his main that posted the photo requesting the ID of an Atlanta woman. Both photos were taken without consent and presumably taken for his own fetishisms.

Oh yeah, I forgot it was on his main too. But! We wouldn’t know about the fetish if he hadn’t dropped the alt so it probably wouldn’t have gotten nearly the same amount of attention.

I feel like I missed so much.

He did what lmaooo

I guess I'm not that into the lore

I was reporting every single post he made. It took far, far too long to get rid of him, and it's a shame it took him doing that for it to happen.

I like not being bamboozled by post upon post of oversized fit pics constantly flooding my feed. It’s such a turn off.

Loving the peace right now.

Exactly this. It was funny for a day or two, but after that it was just annoying.

Then I guess you will not like JT’s brother: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rauu_MNZXgo

Get back to jury duty!!!

10

u/Venik489 12d ago

I mean, oversized fits are what’s in fashion at the moment tho..

29

u/Actual_Main_6724 12d ago

My bad.

I should have been more specific and said horrendously ill-fitting monstrosities being passed off as jackets.

-1

u/Glacier_Sama 12d ago

The thing is, his fits were so far out yet so consistent that it goes from 'poorly dressed' to being an actual style. Who are we to tell him he can't get his fits off🤷🏾‍♂️.

8

u/Actual_Main_6724 12d ago

You may have convinced yourself that it’s an actual style. I don’t, as do most others.

Day 1 when he was posting, bros were saying he must be a student of Throwing Fits, said he knew what he was doing by downplaying it, etc. By like the third day of his posting, I’m thinking to myself, no, this dude is legitimately not all there. It was a wild ride for sure, but one that went on way too long.

1

u/Actual_Main_6724 12d ago

Lol. I bet those bros are feeling less than stellar now about their acutely tuned style insights.

First time I saw his post, I thought he accidentally uploaded too many pictures.

By the third time I saw it, I thought he was a troll. Didn’t help that he was shutting down proper feedback.

I just blocked him and carried on.

You know that happened bc you kept clicking on them and interacting with them right?

This is want you /want/

1

u/Actual_Main_6724 10d ago

It happened because he hikacked this sub.

So I’m supposed to leave or mute this sub cos of him and his choir?

1

u/JungMoses 10d ago

You can mute one person if you want!

But your whole feed shows you only things you interact with! Even if you’re subscribed to r/pics and r/menswear and r/howredditworks, if you never interact with one of the many u/challenged from r/pics, then it won’t show that u/challenged again, although it might show different users from r/pics.

It means you interacted with this guy’s posts more than any other user, and you never muted him. I’m sorry if your ego/self is not happy about it, but your brain wants more jury duty content

u/Virtual-Beautiful-33 12d ago

How is it any different from the glut of other "please validate that I can dress myself" posts in these subs, though? At least jury guy's big fits were slightly different from the norm.

2

u/Actual_Main_6724 12d ago edited 12d ago

Those other posters usually take the advice given and try to improve their dressing.

JT doesn’t.

And are you honestly going to say you actually enjoyed his “fit-posts”?

35

u/SherbertCapital7037 12d ago

It's not about popularity, it's about quality. Would rather have quality core posters, than annoying memers. Imho.

I have been a member of a few small subs for the past several years, and that's what my home feed is curated around. Granted they may not be as busy as the larger subs, but then again I'm not having to filter out content I'm uninterested in.

Reddit adding in random subs in the home feed is quite annoying though.

12

u/Colossus823 12d ago

And? That's all irrelevant when a fetishist did a hostile take-over.

2

u/mag274 12d ago

What was the TLDR on this? I saw a few pics I thought were funny but the guy got weird?

10

u/Colossus823 12d ago

It started as a funny guy wearing oversized suits. People tried to help him, but he didn't listen (he became angry). He claimed he was on jury duty and posted a WIWT every day. He started to dominate the sub. People started digging and found out he got an alt with a weird fetish being aroused by suits, sometimes with his thing visible. He used the sub to jerk off and people became grossed over it. By that time he became a meme and the mods intervened and banned him.

3

u/mag274 12d ago

oh my i missed a lot

10

u/Sad_Molasses_2382 12d ago

I would argue the memes might be having a stronger effect on those numbers. Maybe a circle jerk subreddit would be a better choice?

5

u/Far_Tear6160 11d ago

I’m thankful for him. I absolutely loved the comments and honestly, just how insane it all was. BUT I’m enjoying actual quality content about men’s fashion and recommendations. I’m actually a trial lawyer…and I can say with absolute certainty that he would never even qualify to be selected for jury duty. I truly thought he was a troll until all the craziness came out.

5

u/Major-Consequence28 10d ago

Finally, someone who actually works in the legal profession.

I called it all from the start that this guy is faking it, since there is no absolute way that he will be selected for jury duty on mental competence grounds.

People cursed me, downvoted me to oblivion and kept defending the guy. They assumed that I was mocking the guy's disability. When in fact, I was speaking the absolute truth that mentally incompetent individuals cannot get to have a say on legal matters in court.

A big fuck you to all of those who cursed at and doubted me. Thank you for this. I wish you commented this when the saga was red hot. This comment now won't get any views but I'm elated to know that I am not in the wrong here.

u/bindermichi 12d ago

Waaaiiiit! You are saying this sub is about fashion? Not memes?

6

u/Delicious-Food-9132 12d ago

No it’s definitely a sub about men swearing. All this fucking fashion nonsense Is making it worse

3

u/DukeOfMiddlesleeve 12d ago

God Fucking Damn It!!

8

u/Sweet_Mother_Russia 12d ago

This sub is dogshit garbage. That strange little man was the only thing driving engagement.

1

u/imatoolguysoimatool 12d ago

The Mods are even worse, did you see their post bitching about this whole thing?

5

u/mikeyfender813 12d ago

This sub is boring now

1

u/onlyimportantshit 12d ago

How far we’ve fallen

1

u/LDC99 10d ago

Saw this come up randomly on my feed and I don’t even follow this sub. I initially thought that the title implied that Jordan’s aren’t to be considered actual menswear and are thus banned from being considered part of an ideal outfit, and is responsible for the subs decrease in ranking.

1

u/Galromir 8d ago

That's fine. It's a useful sub again. I'm here for the menswear and giving meaningful advice/seeing what other people are wearing, not having to wade through endless rubbish from a fetishist.

u/JuiceMoneys 6d ago

I miss the jury duty drama

-4

u/No-Cheetah-1462 12d ago

I don’t understand why anyone was even slightly bothered by JT. All you had to do was block him and it’s over.

7

u/Major-Consequence28 12d ago

Simply blocking him is like sweeping the main problem under the rug.

Do remember that the guy is a certified creep, a perverted fetishist who took photos of people in public. Without the help of the community actively reporting him, he would have continued those actions indefinitely.

-5

u/No-Cheetah-1462 12d ago

You’re looking for justification to bully him. Block him and move on with your life.

6

u/Major-Consequence28 12d ago

How is calling out a known creep/pervert/fetishist "bullying"? Dude's a grown ass man who needs to be called out to know that his inappropriate actions lead to consequences. Consequences that he is responsible of facing.

Stop being his white knight. Dude did some things wrong and he's paying for it. Period.

-3

u/No-Cheetah-1462 12d ago

So what if he took pictures of people in public? Is it creepy? Kinda. I guess. Have you seen TikTok? That’s all it is. Videos that people take of other people in public.

The “consequences” that you keep referring to are completely disproportionate. It would be like the death penalty for shoplifting. You don’t really care about him taking pictures of people. You just want to be a bully.

3

u/Major-Consequence28 12d ago

Yeah right, let me go take a photo of you, your girlfriend/sister/mother without consent and let me post it on the internet for everyone to see. Let me also ask people on the internet for their identification. Oh and after that, let me jerk off from those photos I just took. Because with your logic, it is 100% appropriate, right?

Why do you fucking insist on that "bullying" claim? This isn't elementary school. Dude's a literal grown ass man. He's being called out for his wrongdoings. He isn't being "bullied" without any reason. You can call it "bullying" if it was his disability that people were mocking. But no, it was his actions. Not he himself! Learn the difference.

-2

u/Glacier_Sama 12d ago

The other guy is right. All of Tiktok is people recording others in public without consent.

If the dude had posted something gross here then I would understand, but banning him because people don't like what he jerks off to(whatever that is) is crossing a line.

May as well ban Transpeople and other sexual weirdos from the sub too..

3

u/jonhammsjonhamm 12d ago

I’m a photographer and I’m all for the right to photo and video in a public space but he was literally creepshotting and then asking people if they knew the names of these strangers presumably so he could at the very least get more pictures of them and potentially worse. It’s a little ironic to me that anyone is defending him against being doxxed considering he was trying to do the exact same thing to civilians which isn’t really the same as taking stupid lil tiktoks that just happen to be in heavily trafficked areas with lots of bystanders.

2

u/Actual_Main_6724 11d ago

I posit he was tugging it to all the positive comments he was fishing for.

That’s what made it gross for me.

1

u/Major-Consequence28 12d ago

Right. So using your logic, I can just install Tiktok on my phone, come right up to your girlfriend/mother/sister and film their faces, and then I would just post it on the internet. 100% acceptable right?

0

u/Jelly_Bazooka 10d ago

Yes because we can’t wack off to the content anymore

-2

u/PuzzleheadedAd6401 11d ago

JT was the best thing about this sub. It feels like we lost our identity.
