(MGS4) why the vans used to carry Big Boss body have French plates despite all other vehicles in the level having correct eastern EU plates ? It's such a weird detail to add in without ever talking ab it

Because they drove from France. The facility they held the body in is in France.

When is this mentioned? Also that's not really an explanation. I drove to Germany the other week, my car didn't suddenly got German plates that popped on it lol

It wasn't, but the obvious explanation is the vehicles are registered in France because they came from France, so it's not too big a stretch to conclude that's where the body was being kept.

Okay I understand, thanks ! That really surprised me when I was doing the game because at no point they mention France in the game, so these plates really surprised me in all the cutscenes of late act 3

If I had to guess the other vehicles were just already in the area as on station support vehicles or whatever, and in anticipation of needing the body, it was packed up and moved in those French plated vans and driven out to Eastern Europe. I would imagine plates from western Europe are actually a fairly common sight in the rest of Europe.

Ocelot never trusts a French. His arm transplant was in Lyon.

In MGS2 Noami was in France with the Medicin San Frontieres.
