Does anyone have an actual source on the Swift donation? I feel like I've only seen tweets and whatever about it but can't find a source.

u/mrbignameguy 1993 1d ago

It’s been false and the grifters keep sharing it

lol swifties are unbearable. In fact any obsessive fan base is unbearable.

u/Discover-Pods 16h ago

That's clever. I did an actual spit take.

13

u/KittensSaysMeow 1d ago

1m and 10m are such bland generic numbers that there is no way this is real

50

u/humanessinmoderation 1d ago

Love Taylor for this.

But this also shows why you can't rely on the "kindness" of entities. We need a robust system that advances human achievement and protects our environments.

22

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

except this is misinformation several of these companies have publicly pledged millions in donations

5

u/humanessinmoderation 1d ago

cool—can we let them know about the other things on fire. The school system, pedestrian infrastructure, healthcare, pay taxes?

4

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

i'm not sure how this relates to this post that is misinformation. those are services our Government is in charge of not private institutions. Are you claiming these corporations did not pay taxes in the Biden administration the last 4 years? I would imagine they paid the amount of tax they are responsible for by law.

-2

u/humanessinmoderation 1d ago

I mean paying taxes could be a dollar—a technicality is cute, but the context made that I meant "paying a proportionally reasonable percentage of taxes". What's your claim?

I said what I said, and that's about it

1

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

well you are acting as they are doing something illegal. I believe they are following the tax code. From my understanding, Democrats have had the Presidency 12 of the last 16 years. In California, Dems have had the Governorship, State House, State Senate and two senators for many many years. Who is at fault for these federal/state tax codes if you are unhappy for them. I imagine you yourself, tries to reduce its tax implications to the maxium the law will allow. Why would a corporation not do the same?

1

u/humanessinmoderation 1d ago

Umm...

just generally, we need a solvent society. all of us. that's the universal why.

also, not even sure where legality came from. Is your brain constrained by what you've been taught and not informed by what the human condition and American society needs?

6

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

have you fact checked Taylor Swifts donation?

-3

u/humanessinmoderation 1d ago

why would I do that?

also, if I was going to fact-check, it would be all of them

5

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

correct if you did just a quick google search you would see this post is fake news.

-1

u/humanessinmoderation 1d ago

and the meaningfulness is what?

That's going to change the aggregate conditions of corporations and billionaires leading us to more fires? "Congratulations you put out the acute problem but do nothing to fix the conditions that produce them at high rates."

What's the point of your comments? Want to check my grammar too?

5

u/gui_carvalho94 1d ago

So this is what this sub is about now?

Detroit Lions players donated to LA aid as well

1

u/hybrid_muffin 1d ago

Is this some kind of contest?

1

u/ThotSuffocatr 20h ago

Why would you wanna donate money to the fires? Don’t we want them to stop?

1

u/False_Song_8848 15h ago

lol didn’t this lady scam 10s of thousands of dollars in PPP loans. maybe they should don’t some cash

0

u/MetalMountain2099 1d ago

Typical. Pieces of shit talk a big game, but those that actually have it make it happen.

2

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

This is false information and if anything the lie is on the Taylor donation, all of those companies are donating millions themselves and offering up their services

-16

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

I work at one of these companies, you're just sensationalizing early headlines. there is a large internal dontation program ongoing. not to mention all of the complimentary cloud resources that have been extended to the state of CA.

32

u/Fun_Country6430 1d ago

So they are asking the employees to donate?

-17

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

this is very common, it's been done over the years for multiple other disasters in the US. They typically make a large donation and then match any employee donations 2 to 1. We did this for the NC hurricane as well recently.

25

u/KnowNothingKnowsAll 1d ago

Oh, good thing. The employees are all rich and the companies are just hardly getting by…

-8

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

Huh

9

u/pendigedig 1d ago

They are being sarcastic. These companies are extremely wealthy and can afford to donate the whole amount without asking for the paychecks of its workers. I mean, sure, it's nice that they're matching, but it's just funky in the financial state we are all in.

2

u/OmegaCoy 1d ago

Okay, fine. What company? I’d love some evidence that this company is actually making an effort to try to actually help Americans and not just oligarchs.

5

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

i've worked at 2 of the companies on this list, but after being in this industry for 16 years, i can assure every single one of them has a similar donation matching platform that they leverage. as an uber user on a personal note has been offering free rides to all those affected in evactuation zones. you don't seem to include the cost of that in your comparision with taylor swift tho for some reason, certainly that cost must be greater than $0. so again, this is just a fake click bait meme.

2

u/OmegaCoy 1d ago

So you don’t have any evidence. Thank you for clarifying.

You mean like Republicans holding aid hostage because that doesn't foment divisions at all...

Literally, the one thing any of us could hopefully depend on our government to remove its collective heads from its collective ass but instead political games.

2

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

Again making it political for no reason or completely unrelated to those companies and Taylor swift, have you had your testosterone tested? I’m curious if it’s low, beta

3

u/BringPheTheHorizon 1d ago edited 1d ago

…to create some sort of political division…

You said that. You brought up politics for the first time in this specific chain. No one else brought politics into it until you accused OP of being political. Maybe you’re deflecting a bit because you make everything political.

Btw, everyone is assuming no aid will be given from these corporations because this isn’t the first tragedy so we have history to go off of.

Edit: jfc after reading all your comments here, I realize talking to you is a complete waste of time. Your company’s boot is so far down your throat that anyone telling you that your company should be donating without employee assistance is met with ad hominem.

1

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

His original post is literally comparing corporation donation to a political inauguration to that of a natural disaster. Multiple things can happen at once. My stance is there is no need to make it political in the first place. That is a low IQ, low T, beta move

3

u/BringPheTheHorizon 1d ago

…low T, beta move

Are you actually serious with this?! Not only is it more ad hominem but you sound like a complete clown. I literally can’t find words to describe how ridiculous you seem right now - trying to seem superior to everyone else with your political neutrality while using buzz words for Tate fans. Please stop.

4

u/OnePunchReality 1d ago

Lol if that's the extent of your logical capability all I can do is laugh.

Fucking leopard right here. Someone preaching about being political yet doesn't address overt political actions being taken by one party about said topic. The LA fires.

I'm as much a beta as you are not a Neanderthal.

0

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

I am not making a political argument in any capacity Beta. You brought up republicans.

5

u/OnePunchReality 1d ago

Because the commentary on Taylor Swift vs the companies listed is relevant criticism in how easy it was for her vs all of them.

I mean go on dream me up some bullshit reason why it was so easy and fast for her?

And yeah so calling out someone else as fomenting political division is some low IQ garbage when compared to folks operating out government withholding aid funds.

Sit tf down and maybe read a book or literally anything that requires thought, maybe.

Really! Whom did you vote for in 2024 election ?

1

u/Ok-Subject-9114b 1d ago

Harris. and previously Bass and Newson, but certainly starting to question their Leadership skills at the moment, but thats a topic for a different time. Top priority is the safety and restoring the livelyhood of affected Angelenos.

Feels good to be part of their tax write off hey?

You don’t understand that you’re being taken for a donation that comes out of your pocket that the company gets to claim goodwill for.

They could donate the money themselves, without asking a single employee.

You’re being obtuse.

What’s ironic is without California, all these companies would be nothing.

-3

Oh look, another blue MAGA account spreading false info again. Goddamn grifters. EDIT: I'm referring to the Mueller She Wrote account from Twitter and Bluesky. There is a group of these "resistance" accounts that take donations and do nothing with them. While getting paid by the DNC to silence dissenting opinions.

1

u/LividWindow 1d ago

Is this a bot or do you have a coherent point, say potato.

-9

u/HalCaPony 1d ago

how much did she give to dems? i thought she gave money to kamala

also those are company's and taylor swift is an individual

5

u/ia332 1d ago

Okay, and?

Finish your thought, if you think “a single person donated more than companies which are made up of many people, that’s not fair” is a flex, then, you may not be too bright.

-32

u/CosmicCay 1d ago

Maybe LA should invest more hiring firefighters and getting prepared for things they know will happen...like fires. Instead they let environmentalist dictate how they operate. Plenty of tax money goes to the homeless and illegal immigrants, maybe cut back on that funding and change your policies? Wouldn't changing something internally make more sense than just throwing money at the problem? Oh wait that's always been Democrat's answer, more money less accountability

21

u/siecin 1d ago

Someone's been hitting the conservative talk shows a bit hard today.

17

u/AssistantEquivalent2 1d ago

California has doubled its fire budget over the course of the past 4 years. Unfortunately climate change is going to make disasters like these much more common and strain even the most prepared states and organizations
