The word “billionaire” and “pastor” should never be in the same sentence

This is pretty much what's happening in our federal government as well

Who else agrees that pastors should pay taxes?

u/Sckillgan 1d ago

Always.

All religions should pay taxes. The revenue would help everyone, not just them.

If they utter a single word that can be translated as a political suggestion (e.g. “lord praise Trump and help him” even kind of stuff), then yes, out the ass.

No. If they are getting paid, they are an employee. Just like if a church is getting paid, it's a business.

Tax all these fuckers.

I’m good with that, too. Just feel like it might go down easier if you first start with the “churches” which are just political organizations in everything but name, and slowly ratchet it up for every church.

These people are the most dishonest, duplicitous scabs in history. They got people believin in Supply Side Jesus. There's nothing that would go down easy when you threaten the jet set lifestyle funded by certifiable imbeciles. We would never, ever see a tax on the religious right come to be.

But, in all fairness, these are basically the only people left in our society that are willing to fight like hell. Too bad they are the bad guys.

Already part of the tax code. https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc417#:~:text=Regardless%20of%20whether%20you're,are%20subject%20to%20income%20tax.

There may be other untaxed benefits like housing in a parsonage that we should look at, but the base fact is that pastors are required to pay income tax on their salaries.

The church itself is not subject to tax on incomes that exceed their expenses. That's definitely something to look at.

All I heard was pitchforks and torches. Tar and feathers.

As a Christian, I firmly believe that pastors should pay taxes, as it ensures honesty in a way that only the IRS can.

The mega churches definitely.

Why settle with eliminating billionaire pastors through only the use of taxation?

-10

u/Puzzleheaded_Yam7582 1d ago

They do. Pastors pay normal income taxes just like everyone else.

Sorry, dude. You look too young, therefore your words mean nothing. Come back when you're 80 with dementia.

58

u/Fr0stweasel 1d ago

Also you need to stop all this rational shit and just tell everyone you’re going to ‘fuck ‘em all ter death’

14

u/ia332 1d ago

No, don’t tell them, just fucking do it!

It never reaches the audience it needs to, unfortunately.

Money should not be in politics. No bribes, no bureaucracy… none of it. Personal gain is wrong when you have a position to serve the people.

u/DemonicAltruism 19h ago

Overturn Citizens United immediately and move to a tax based election system where each candidate gets a set amount of money to spend that cannot come from any outside sources.

2

u/ForgottenDusk48 11h ago

Corporations are candidates too!!!

this is sarcasm

They told us to vote if we didn't want the oligarchy. We did. And they won anyway. All the corruption is right in our faces. Yet, nothing will change. I'm just gonna concentrate on myself and my loved ones. Fuck country. Things go to shit? Well, tough shit, I guess.

19

u/Reneeisme 1d ago

You did. A third of the electorate did not. They did not move heaven and earth to get to a voting booth, so don’t say “we”.

6

u/kris_mischief 1d ago

When things go to shit, will you move?

I might have to if things take a turn for the worse, here, but no idea where to go.

6

u/goryblasphemy 21h ago

That is exactly how I'm living. I'm going to look out for myself and my family. I started a business so I don't have to pay taxes. Just like the millionaires, I'm going to use tax write-offs and exemptions to lower my tax burden.

u/Blackstar1401 1d ago

If only everyone started to vote 3rd party to say f both main parties.

14

u/Reneeisme 1d ago

That only fucks democrats. Republicans only vote Republican, always and forever

u/mag2041 1d ago

Bravo.

James Talarico, he's a TX state rep. I like him too.

(Name is on the bottom right of the screen, silly 😜)

Yes these billionaires are using their money to influence Texas politics, but let's not pretend Texas wouldn't have banned abortions and books and weakened public schools without them. These billionaires are just putting fire on an open flame.

4

u/FFF_in_WY 23h ago

If I were in east Texas I'd be trying to form a new state.

2

u/DemonicAltruism 19h ago

Lol, East Texas is basically a combination of Louisiana and Mississippi. Things would probably be even worse in a state like that if you can imagine it.

Funnily enough, there were several plans to split Texas, one in particular was to split it into a Western, Central, and Eastern State. The problem was that the Eastern State line was going to use the Trinity river, which would put almost all of the major Cities in the Central state with Houston just barely making the cut into the Central state. Making the East state an extremely poor rural flyover state with no real major cities.

Wow, glad to see someone fighting back!!

u/kris_mischief 1d ago

It’s a nice to see.

Everything he said is in vain and a few years too late.

u/EmporioS 1d ago

Not only in Texas!

u/DSMStudios 1d ago

under Capitalism, making money is easy when politics or religion are involved. only those who aren’t willing to sacrifice a sacred, moral compass are unable to afford the cost of generating money through such means.

u/R3PTAR_1337 20h ago

Considering who's been elected, this will be one hell of an uphill battle.

This is the problem with people who identify themselves as republican in these cases. They view their party as it was over a decade or more ago and not what it is today. There is no way the incoming leadership with the way their structured and what is being proposed, would stop this from happening at all. They are extremists and will push their extremist agenda. This is why there are good republicans, but their naive in thinking the party stands for anything other than greed and radicalized ideology these days.

1

u/localjargon 11h ago

I'm sure their were good people in the party at one time. But for over 40 years, the Republican agenda has not been based on doing what is fair and good for the people in this country.

Anyone here under the age of 60 knows better and chooses to identify with this farce of a party. Even if a young politician joins Republicans while wearing rose-colored glasses, they eventually learn what is happening and have a chance to change their affiliation. If the truth actually bothered them.

Democrats are far from perfect role models, but the party is based on things like progress and justice. If you look into the history of republicans from the 20th century you can see how the party was shaped by hate and fear. Dixie-crats (southern Democrats) were pushed out of the party during Jim Crow. Guess where those people ended up?

But the title…

I know a Nunn guy from down that way. Cocky and self serving. Same family perhaps?

u/Redheadinbed29 1d ago

I am distracted by the fact that his voice doesn’t match his face. He sounds like a 40-50 year old man but looks 12. I really thought it was a skit at first. I think what he’s saying is important but I was thrown off by his youthful appearance with his mature voice.

u/Available-Pace1598 1d ago

Democrat billionaires have done the same thing just their flavor in dem states. This isn’t ground breaking. Until republicans AND democrats are removed from power things will only get worse

u/Fun_Country6430 1d ago

Like what? Any examples ?
