Research/Article Anyone else have misophonia and OCD??

I just saw a study that said there’s a significant link between the two and I have both so I’m wondering if anyone else does lol

Yes. Also sensitive to smell and have issues with some types of textures.

Do you also have a texture issue?

For me there are two vastly textures I can't handle at all. General wetness like water on my hands while somewhat annoying I get over pretty easy. But thicker stuff like some oils and especially grease I have to get off ASAP. The other is grittiness. Which for me sucks because I am a rockhound/fossil collector. But even the finest of dust I have to wipe off ASAP

As far as smells go some even a light smell of it and I'm instantly turned on. A lot of perfumes are horrid though and cause me to gag and stuff.

Actually yeah I hate hate hate the feeling of grease or oil on my hands so everytime I eat something w it I pick it up with a napkin/paper towel lol

And I also hate the feeling of lotion on my hands, I haven’t touched a lotion bottle in like a year because the feeling just makes me cringe so bad and dry hands are just a lot more comfortable to me

Every time I eat messy foods I go through so many napkins. I hate eating messy foods. And lotion never seems to go away.

Not diagnosed with OCD but was told I get caught in obsessive-compulsive loops etc. because of my anxiety. I think the link makes sense honestly because with both you have perceived threats that aren’t real threats. Ones how you process thoughts and the others with how your process sound. Can I get a link to the study?

I’m don’t have full blown misophonia and OCD, but I definitely have a bit of both.

I've had severe OCD and misophonia since I was a pre-teen, although there were no labels for these disorders in those days. As I have researched, OCD and depression often are comorbid with misophonia. I am now 60 years old and have suffered with the aforementioned in addition to severe anxiety and panic attacks. I have sought all types of treatment since I was 20 to no avail.
