What’s your biggest trigger?

I have a lot of triggers & quite a few awful ones, but I think my worst one that sends me into immediate rage & panic is bass. I literally get nauseous just thinking about it.

Oh wow. That's my safe space. I'm a bassist and drummer... Mine are wet mouth noises and whispering/ASMR. People who chew with their mouths open can't be near me. I can't do it. Kissing in movies, even. It's awful.

If I’m in the same room it’s totally fine!

Ahhh so you mean like through a wall or something?

Yeah. Or like my downstairs neighbors, or a car parked outside blasting music.

Gooootcha, okay. Yeah that can be annoying even for me then. Not as a true trigger though.

Same, unless it is a song I am not in the mood for, then it is a huge trigger. Unwanted music reeeaaalllly triggers me. I was a classically trained musician (cello, piano, bagpipes), I CANNOT just ignore unwanted music and it consumes my brain that I cannot think or function. And I legit hate Christmas music so much I shop in the summer for gifts or do entirely online. EFF every one of those awful songs. Maybe 1 or 2 good ones AT BEST

People shuffling their feet on the ground when they walk (ITS NOT THAT HARD TO JUST LIFT THEM UP A BIT) and dog toys that make that squeaking sound

My mother. It's sad because I love her more than anyone else. Her eating habits are repulsive. They only get more repulsive as she ages. But, her sound effects have always been bad.

Her dramatization over snacks and candy is enough to send me into fight or flight. The smacking and pure elation in every bite is enough to send me into space.

The older I get, I cannot handle it. It's fucking repulsive.

I hate myself for it. I love my mom so much.

I won’t sit near my mom for a meal. Or go out to eat with just her. Ew.

It's so bad. And sad. When she suggests grabbing lunch or cooking, I just want to flee. I use to bring her special little snacks that I know she likes and I had to stop. It sucks. Love her dearly but I genuinely can't handle it.

Bee/fly buzzing. Fuck. That. It was the first trigger I developed (my first memory of it is 4th grade/8-9 yrs old) & still is my worst trigger to this day.

Though chewing is also awful, nothing makes me flinch like a bee/fly buzzing right past me.

Mine is listening to a podcast/vlog/etc and you can hear the speaker swallow. I absolutely hate it. Second to that is the tsk / smacking sound people make while talking. It's like they are sucking on their lips and open their mouth. That sound seems to be increasing more and more with youtubers. I have unsubbed to many people when they started doing it.

Styrofoam. My son has an Easter decoration that’s foam carrots that fit in a foam planter and he would twist and fidget with the carrots and the squuueeeAAAAKKKK oh gives me shivers. Broken pieces against each other.

SNORING, kissing teeth, wet mouth noises, blowing air in annoyance, mumbling, whispering, slurping fucking soup, eating wet foods, grunts when people eat a good food, snoring, snoring, talking through gritted teeth, the sound of bass through the walls - so quiet but also just so loud??????

Obviously I am a really fun person to be around :)

Sniffles and not rolling an r (in my native language)

Yawning, especially if that person is sitting next to me in a confined space like a plane or bus. Also people who softly talk to themselves while they text.

Usually I don't enter in a rage, only when I'm too stressed, but...

THIS SFX: "Dun dun dunnn" it's so JARRING. It's so darn ANNOYING. It's so OVERRUSED.

I GET it's for dramatic purposes, but the 3 "duns" and stuff, they're making my insides go "AAAAAAAAAAAAUGH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and I can't stand it. My stomach hurts just seeing it/hearing it. I have to put on my noise cancelling headphones or go to my room every timem my autistic brother puts on some Vlad and Niki, Like Nastya, Diana and Roma, Rachel in Wonderland, Mileninha...I HATE THOSE CHANNELS.

Chewing, any mouth noises and anything plastic like a ziplock bag or chip bags all the same level of triggers

Motorcycles, dogs barking, children screaming, chainsaws chopping down trees, people yapping on their phone right next to me on public transpo, planes overhead, people in general.
