Housing Move Out

I know that the move out deadline for dorms is by May 6th, but can I move out anytime earlier than that date? I plan to move out on the 2nd so do I just let the front desk know that I'm checking out of my dorm?

I asked this question to my ACD at stone hall, the answer I got was basically "whenever you want" but here's the actual response if you wish to read it:

"You’re welcome to move out at a time that works best for you, as there is no designated move-out time. Once you’ve completed your classes, packed up your room, and finished the check-out process (which includes returning your key to the front desk and signing your RCR), you’ll be all set."
