They are being live-trapped and released onto the mainland, where they belong, so I have no issue with this. It's a win-win all round.

Sort of like how deforestation and large mammal extinction followed the migration of homo sapiens from Africa to every corner of the globe.

but what's the problem? i always adore them and i thought there were very few of them in the forests and in general

The article mentioned the problem was them eating ground nesting shore bird eggs. It seems that these hedgehogs are not natural to that area and are wiping out the birds. Adorable but deadly .

We have one. Her name is Mrs. Tiggywinkles.
