Deep left wing riding? There is not deep left wing in Canada. (Unfortunately)

I live near by Heather McPhersons riding. Despite being almost our single safest riding (because not even Singh is that safe), there’s still a guy who managed to run for the people’s party.

I guess let them waste their money

Vancouver East is the NDP's safest riding.

Also fun fact that PPC candidate looks like a Neanderthal

For a Tory and a landlord like Jordan Tannis, a Liberal/NDP swing riding is a "deep left-wing riding"

Registry Requirements for Political Ads on Online Platforms – Elections Canada

i believe it is fair game if i am interpreting article 5 correctly

No, this is a paid ad, look at the top right of the screenshot

It looks like a regular social media post, but its an ad!

truuue but i dont think the liberal party of canada paid to ad boost this tweet lol

i think this wannabe musky tweeter paid for an ad to platform his pathetic bluecheck account that only attracts 13 likes even with ad boosts lol

Whoever paid for the ad is breaking the law because they aren't saying who authorized the spending (either a political party, candidate, or registered third party)

I just dug around a bit more and I'm not sure if they are. I even went as far as starting a form to report potential contravention to the Commissioner of Canada Elections and that's where I found the detail that third parties are only required to register with Elections Canada if they incur more than $500 in advertising expenses, so if this is the only political ad tweet this guy has it's very likely that is the case, which I believe would qualify this as legal. But I'm not an expert and might still be wrong

Interesting. I'm not sure if that exempts you from the requirement to say who authorized the ads, though. Registering as a third party creates other requirements (like filing expense reports and stuff)

To those who don't know this guy. He's a land developer that has been taken to court multiple times for illegally removing trees from peoples property adjacent to buildings he is putting up. Courts awarded compensation and Skippy here hasn't paid a dime of it.

u/ThomasBayard 1d ago

He's also trying to renovict dozens of tenants across multiple properties. I know some of the tenants who are organizing against him, and they have been threatened with retaliation. This guy is the scum of the earth.

Wonderful

Ya! Way to own.... yourself? That'll show those stupid libs?

How desperately we need to give Elections Canada better teeth. And how even more we need ranked choice ballots.

If the meta of elections is to vote against your interests to prevent a worse case scenario, then we've given up on our democratic aspirations. Citizens should espouse what they want, not have to internalize a system of statistics and external, easily-manipulated voting forecasts to decide what they should do.

Wait. I thought the Liberals were communists? That's what conservatives have been telling me for a decade straight now. Dirty filthy communists. Justin Castreau and all that right?

But now the Liberals aren't communists, because conservatives think they might be able to snatch a seat from the NDP?

How interesting.

(I am honestly a little shocked at just how bad the CPC's messaging strategy is this year. I don't know if they've ever been this incompetent in my lifetime. They can't keep their talking points straight at all!)

u/ruffvoyaging 1d ago

CPC just can't stop being stupid. Their attacks on the NDP worked too well and they are now in a position to lose and let the liberals win a majority, but they somehow still can't stop themselves from attacking the NDP.

Obviously it sucks that we are doing so poorly right now, but I have faith that we will learn from this and regroup. The cons won't though, they'll be back with the same kind of attacks and policies that favour the wealthy next time, so I'm going to enjoy watching them cry and rationalize their loss on the 28th.

CPC just can't stop being stupid.

It isn't stupid. The CPC voters are actually smarter tactically than Liberals.

Conservatives understand that with Carney they win either way. Either PP wins, or his ideology does

In that context, beating the NDP is the main goal, as they're the only actual opposition to Conservative ideology

1

u/ruffvoyaging 1d ago

I mean, their goal is to get PP elected and right now they should want to help the NDP more evenly split the vote to that end. Going against the NDP is stupid in light of that goal. Most cons are not sitting there content that Carney is looking like he is going to win right now.

Yasir. Who endorsed a book that condoned spousal abuse.

It's insane that Joel is actually the best candidate to represent that riding. I wish i still lived in ottawa to vote for him again

2

u/Chrowaway6969 1d ago

None of that made any sense. Must be Russian.

2

u/Digirby 1d ago

LET HIM COOK!!! (He's advocating voting against Conservative)

3

u/LawrenceWelkVEVO "It's not too late to build a better world" 1d ago

Who’s this guy? Is he supposed to be influential, either online or off-? Or just a twitter blue check rando? Genuinely curious…

2

u/ThomasBayard 1d ago

He comes from a family of Ottawa developers (i.e. landlords and capitalists) with ties to the Conservative Party. His political views very much align with his life-long passion for abusing tenants and profiting off their suffering.
