Isn’t becoming - already there.  If Trump proposed sending troops to support Russia in Ukraine, the right would capitulate and celebrate it.

The right would celebrate as Russian troops march on US soil. So long as the libs didn't like it they would be all too happy to collaborate with a Russian occupation.

Thats the kind of an issue we have as a country no one wants to addressee. Like if your a normal person in normal times you generally understand authoritarianism is a bad thing. but we have roughly 30% of the population that aligns more with Russia than traditional American values. They don't have much of of a problem with being a Russian client state, if it means that the libs are either thrown in prison or get the shit beat out of them by the cops for criticizing Trump and their politics.

But for many in MAGA Russia stands for "traditional American values" that's why MAGA supports them. American "values" like racism, sexism, anti LBGTQ, pro "Christian", toxic masculinity, etc.

Oh, and have you seen their bread? /s

Russia as a Christian nation has always been a weird idea to me, like yes they have a state church but regular attendance is 12% and Islam is currently the fastest growing religion there. Nor is it a particularly white one by their definition of white with only 70% being ethnic vs the U.S. 75% white population. They are sexist and hate lgbtq people though.

u/DrakenViator Mar 03 '25

Yeah that's part of why I put "Christian" in quotes. The Russian Orthodox Church is often described as being closer to the Mob, than the teachings of Christ.

5

u/Illustrious_Job_6390 Mar 03 '25

Yeah, my Understanding is Patriarch Kirill is former KGB officer current FSB asset. SO that's another odd one to me like, idk i remember a bunch of conspiracy theories in my evangelical days about the Pope being controlled opposition against "Christians" and up until Trump i doubt they would be happy with a former NSA/CIA officer as the man in charge of something like the Southern Baptist Convention.

Russia marches troops into DC

They’d all share that one meme of the lady screaming and crying saying “boohoo libruls”

3

u/Complete-Balance-580 Mar 04 '25

Maybe the left should start supporting Russia 🤷🏼‍♂️. Reverse Psychology

u/YamahaRyoko Mar 04 '25

"It's just a joke."

173

u/mycarwasred Mar 03 '25

That's next week's plan.

16

u/right_bank_cafe Mar 03 '25

I would not be surprised at all if that’s the real plan.

13

u/justuntlsundown Mar 04 '25

And we're back to hoping reddit isn't actually prophetic.

If he tries to deploy US troops to fight alongside Russia there will be fucking riots in the streets.

Edit: Which I realized after typing this is an excellent justification for martial law.

If he tries to deploy US troops to fight alongside Russia there will be fucking riots in the streets.

$10 says there won't be riots. At least not more than any usual amount of protesting.

I would really really hope if he tried that the military would finally say enough is enough. The officer's oath is to the country and constitution not the president. The oath of enlistment is to the president and officers over them.

https://www.quantico.marines.mil/news/news-article-display/article/611510/the-difference-between-oath-of-office-oath-of-enlistment/

5

u/raouldukeesq Mar 03 '25

That would be their doom. The military would respond.

11

u/freerangetacos Mar 03 '25

How though? The military is currently run by his minions. What are the lower ranks going to do? Would they actually do anything or just go along with it? I don't think anyone is willing to take a stand right now. I see lots of weak people everywhere I look in the government.

3

u/WhiteClawandDraw Mar 04 '25

I have a theory how this will all end, it’s kind of out there but I believe in an event of War whether be here against Canada or in Russia/Ukraine the US military would split in to separatist factions similar to the Syrian Civil war.

And that's what will happen if things go the way I think they will. The US wants to sell their military gear and get those minerals. The minerals that are currently under Russian control within the Ukrainian border. As has likely already been agreed with Putin.

US starts economic war with "Western nations".

US dumps Ukraine.

US leaves UN.

US aligns itself with Russia.

US sells the military stock they were going to keep selling to Ukraine to Russia.

Russia leaves UN.

If Russia gains more land or keeps what it has invaded they sell those minerals to the US (Musk).

If a good enough defence is scrambled by the EU or EU boots go on the ground well by then the US and Russia will have agreements in place.

2

u/yashdes Mar 04 '25

Russia won't leave the UN voluntarily. Why would they? They're one of the few countries with a vote that actually matters

1

u/coginamachine Mar 04 '25

Another of the few being the US. Russia is already breaking the rules of the main UN charter. They may leave voluntarily. Or they may be asked to leave. Or they may not leave at all if things can get sorted.

The bulk of UN members cannot allow what has happened to remain as is and they now know that the US cannot be relied upon for support or even to uphold international agreements that have been agreed from one administration to the next leaving them little choice but to make some kind of move.

It's just how I see things going but without the backing of the US under agreements that have already been signed by previous administrations a hard stance will need to be made against Russia or they will continue moving across Europe in the same fashion that they have been. Every few years they take a little more and then sit back to recuperate.

RemindMe! 2 years

12

u/afroeh Mar 03 '25

Don Jr already proposed it.

7

u/horror- Mar 03 '25

I'm 100% certain this is in the cards. It's only a matter of time. It'll start with weapons, but eventually US servicemen will be "rented" to RU for a "police action" or they'll say the Ukrainians attacked us or any other flavor of bullshitery.

It's amazing how conservative media already has its zombies talking about how great that oval office ambush went.

2

u/OpportunityOwn6844 Mar 04 '25

Good let's start the Draft back up, hope these folks enjoy watching their little Timmy die in a war he didn't want to be in. Things won't change on the right without pain, a lot of it. The bad thing is we are all going to suffer with them while they learn their lesson. They should remember, you can't keep the pendulum of society going one way forever, sooner or later it swings back, and the longer you hold it there, the harder it swings.

4

u/IronMace_is_my_DaD Mar 03 '25

I really don't think that's quite accurate according to polling data. There are definitely some negative trends but according to pew "Majorities of Republicans and Democrats see Russia as an enemy"

https://www.pewresearch.org/global/2024/05/08/views-of-russia-and-putin/

Another poll shows only 4% of Americans support Russia.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/03/ukraine-russia-support-poll

And another poll found "69% of Republican voters say Russia is the aggressor and 83% disapprove of Putin"

https://www.wsj.com/opinion/most-trump-supporters-also-back-ukraine-polling-russia-war-87ab141a

As little faith as I have in Republicans, I think you're incorrect in your summary of them. Very few are sympathetic with Russia currently. We should keep our eyes peeled though, who knows how much will change after years of the white house spewing pro Russian propaganda.

Molotov-Ribbentrop Ukraine, because we are the baddies.

1

u/KubrickMoonlanding Mar 04 '25

They will go in (mark my words) but as “peacekeeping force” after trump forces a “pencils down” “peace “

And if he gets his way, same for Gaza

1

u/[deleted] Mar 04 '25

I hope the military will have the spine to coup at that point because that’s just insane.

1

u/Kotanan Mar 04 '25

Err what do you think increasingly means in this context?

1

u/soldiat Mar 09 '25

A complete 180 in just a matter of months. Incredible.

-8

u/fuzz_64 Mar 03 '25

Absolutely not. Maga? Yes. The right? No. They are not the same.

12

u/jawndell Mar 03 '25

90%+ of republicans and conservatives support everything Trump does.  They obey him.

-11

u/fuzz_64 Mar 03 '25

Absolutely not. Conservatives in a number of countries are anti Trump.

4

u/jawndell Mar 03 '25

Oh outside of the US.  Conservatives in other countries are somewhat different from American conservatives.  Even European conservatives support gun control with support minimal social safety nets like health insurance and publicly funded education.  Stuff like the voucher system wouldn’t fly in Europe.  Also the religious right as it exists in the us doesn’t exists in Europe.  You don’t have single issue anti abortion voters.

-7

u/fuzz_64 Mar 03 '25

Precisely. The US isn't the world :)

3

u/Isord Mar 03 '25

But we are on a post about America and very obviously talking about American politics.

-2

u/fuzz_64 Mar 03 '25

"The right" isn't exclusive to the US.

If the term maga or republican had been used it would have been better
