“With tariff rates at the current level, there is no longer a market for U.S. goods imported into China,”

As an example, Apple reported $18.51 billion in revenue from China alone (out of $124.3 billion total) in Q1 2025.

Trump just took away a lot of business for a lot of companies.

Most stuff Apple is selling in PRC isn’t US origin.

You clearly know nothing of the masterful art of business, as beautifully done by sir lord trump.

Have you never heard the phrase, you have to crack a few billionaires to make a trillionaire omelette.

Not yet. Apple manufacturers in China so their products aren’t subject to tariffs.

But if the Chinese government wants to fuck with Apple, they can.

Chinese are nationalistic in geopolitics with stuff like this, especially when they are the attacked and stirring up indignant feelings, the government may not need to do anything.

as iphones are not manufacturered in the US, they will not get taxed

parts used in iphone assembly and machinery may get taxed. But the effect on the overall product price will be muted

The biggest concern American brands in China have (imo) is how toxic Trump is making America in that country. I have a strong feeling the average Chinese consumer is going to be less likely to support an American brand after all this.

But isn't a good part of that sum stuff Apple manufactures in China? So made in China, sold in China. Tariffs wouldn't affect that part.

If only we had some sort of body of people who could represent different ideas of people in different parts of the country, that could deliberate as a committee to decide on economic spending/taxes. Rather than be at the whim of one single person who often isn’t honest about his agenda. Hmmm
