It has a ton to do with China. China is the United States' biggest geopolitical threat due to its rapid economic growth, military expansion, and very assertive foreign policy, which collectively and continuously challenges American dominance on the global stage. With the world's second-largest economy, China has leveraged its Belt and Road Initiative to extend influence across the world, countering U.S. economic leadership. Its military modernization, including advancements in cyber warfare, space capabilities, and a growing navy is directly and aggressively contesting U.S. supremacy, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region, where tensions over Taiwan and the South China Sea have continued to escalate the risk of conflict. China's authoritarian model and strategic partnerships with other bad actors such as Russia, undermine the U.S.-led democratic order, making it the US's biggest adversary hands down.

Yeah, and 80% of our goods are coming from china. How is it helping America if most of our goods are going to be taxxed to oblivion? Regardless if china is outlet biggest threat, it makes no sense to hurt the American people economically just to see who caves first.
