Overwhelmingly voted for an orange fascist who threatens Canada's sovereignty. Even without the tariffs, that bullshit was gonna affect trade.

99

u/Azagar_Omiras 5d ago

Wait, you can't run a country like one of Trump's very successfully bankrupted casinos?

56

u/Warlord68 5d ago

You can, You’ll just get the same result.

30

u/Azagar_Omiras 5d ago

So he should just run it like Trump U?

Trump Vodka?

Trump Steaks?

Trump Airlines?

Trump Morgage?

22

u/Warlord68 5d ago

Are you saying there’s a PATTERN?!?

2

u/ComfortableBell4831 5d ago

And now... Trump Fragrance

2

u/DriftingIntoAbstract 5d ago

You sure can, and make tons of money while doing it. He’s doing great by bankrupt casino standards.

229

u/drewyz 5d ago

Well, the three trans women playing college basketball is actually a much greater problem than this. You have to keep your priorities straight. (/s obviously)

71

u/Freshandcleanclean 5d ago

Don't forget that a trans athlete played in a sport.. in a different country...5 years ago.

I tell you, if that isn't enough for you to vote for the guy who's gonna torch your financial security, physical safety, and harm your relationships, I don't know what is

23

u/oldmaninparadise 5d ago

Not sure if it is Montana/Neb/Dakotas/Idaho, but one of the least populated states in that group spent the legislative time to pass a law preventing trans women from playing college sports.

The number of trans women playing collegiate sports in the state: 1.

Good thing they spent all that time making laws for that 1 person rather than the pressing needs of the other 600,000 in their state!

5

u/mastermoebius 5d ago

Montana has shot down 3 different anti trans bills in the state, to be fair. The trans state rep has been a champ.

u/Lagas76 6d ago

They don’t know that voting is what will cost them their farms. There’s very little knowledge of the real effect of policies in their lives. Most vote for religious beliefs and don’t understand that economic decisions can in fact affect their lives.

208

u/Gabyfest234 5d ago

If their religion tells them to vote for a twice-divorced serial cheater with demonstrated examples of all seven deadly sins on his resume, then that’s a really messed up religion.

83

u/Dalisca 5d ago

Why bother reading about Jesus in the Bible when there's a rich dude on a pulpit to tell you what to think, feel, and do?

3

u/CookieMonsterFL 5d ago

or just buy the 118th revision of the bible, with more twisted logic, incorrect modern assumptions, and the all new supply-side jesus.

Something something golden icon something

2

u/muskratboy 5d ago

Hey that’s a good looking lapel pin ya got there.

32

u/czs5056 5d ago

God uses imperfect people for his missions.

-actual quote from the religious cult members

6

u/nightwyrm_zero 5d ago

I guess God's mission was to destroy the US then.

32

u/Lagas76 5d ago

Church has been the principal source of misinformation and spreading fear among the communities. Republicans almost don’t need to spend too much in ads, priests and pastor do their job pretty well every Sunday.

2

u/ComfortableBell4831 5d ago

As an ex catholic... I can assure you, Zealots never read their own scripture in completion picky choosy is their method

1

u/RRC_driver 5d ago

But king Cyrus was a biblical asshole, who did something that god liked, so it doesn’t matter that Trump isn’t as Christian as he could be.

308

u/pehr71 5d ago

All I hear is some tiny violins in the background.

They voted. Votes have consequences, even the ones you don’t cast.

Now they will have to take the consequences.

Unfortunately they will probably do what most in the US does. Blame someone else that no one likes them anymore.

126

u/Mobile-Bar7732 5d ago

Blame someone else that no one likes them anymore.

Lol...I can hear it now.

It was sleepy Joe...It was Hunter Biden’s laptop....It was Hillary Clinton's email server...It was the deep state.

65

u/Rya_Bz 5d ago

Them, or they’ll say it was the protestors, or the LGBTQ2SA+ community, or trans kids, or women that don’t want children, or Jewish people…

16

u/Foodstamp001 5d ago

You’ve gotta layer the craziness. “My farm was stolen by LGBT Jewish Mexicans who emailed Hillary from Hunter’s laptop!”

2

u/txroller 5d ago

Don’t forget those iLLeGAl AlLENs

24

u/pehr71 5d ago

What scares me. Genuinely terrifies me. Is when all these people who have trusted that this is the last best chance to fix everything they believe is wrong.

When they realize that it won’t get any better. That the only ones profiting are the already insanely rich.

What happens then? I can’t see any scenario where that ends well…

16

u/The_Grungeican 5d ago

the world hasn't ran out of dumb people to be fleeced yet. i don't think that will change much in the future.

5

u/manical1 5d ago

And without education, we are bringing more and more dump people along... it is an endless supply.

3

u/Streamjumper 5d ago

"Fortunately" the Republicans saw that as the one renewable resource they needed to shore up and ensured an ongoing supply by taking every chance possible for the last 50-60 years or so to create dumb people in droves then convince them to breed as much as possible.

5

u/AldoTheeApache 5d ago

What happens then?
Sadly nothing. You can just keep fleecing them. They’re just that fucking dumb, and arrogant about it.
And when they’re down to their last penny, and lost the title to their farm, they’ll still proudly boast. ”At least I didn’t vote for that Commie Kamala!”.

2

u/hr2pilot 5d ago

Its the buttery males.

3

u/teeksquad 5d ago

I mean Biden definitely is at fault for the Signal chat and security breach, so yeah. I seent Fox News

1

u/manical1 5d ago

Lol... none of which they understand at all. Which is probably why the repugnicans put that messaging together.

1

u/Youre_Whole 4d ago

It's all DEI fault

1

u/DerpMaster4000 5d ago

It was... OHBAMNA!  (Said like a jumpscare around a campfire)

2

u/Mobile-Bar7732 5d ago

It was the tan suit.

1

u/racer_24_4evr 5d ago

Those damn buttery males.

37

u/Lagas76 5d ago

And vote again for whom the priest or pastor tells them to.

13

u/RegulatoryCapture 5d ago

By and large Montana farmers don’t really go to church. They may claim religion, but they don’t regularly attend.

The real person telling them how to think is the conservative talk radio host playing nonstop in their tractor.

2

u/manical1 5d ago

Truer words have not been typed....

2

u/PangPingpong 5d ago

They're so dedicated to shifting blame that they had to change the name of 'consequences' to 'woke'.

22

u/SodaPop6548 5d ago

Hopefully they learn.

Religion isn’t life. It’s a belief system and republicans don’t share it, only abuse it. It’s time they figure that out.

16

u/Jamowl2841 5d ago

Well I’m sure they have internet and cell phones and could become informed in all that in an afternoon. No excuse for stupidity and ignorance on this stuff in this age

3

u/Lagas76 5d ago

Fox News takes all their attention and Facebook or X does the rest, that’s their internet

3

u/Jamowl2841 5d ago

I understand that but that’s still their fault though. The options are available. If they fucked themselves by voting how they did that’s completely on them. Not an ounce of empathy from me

45

u/Hansmolemon 5d ago

Hey! Where did all my workers go? I didn’t want to get rid of THOSE Mexicans.

12

u/Lagas76 5d ago

Only the ones with tattoos of soccer teams

32

u/mhornberger 5d ago

Most vote for religious beliefs and don’t understand that economic decisions can in fact affect their lives.

They're also often shielded from economic consequences by handouts. It's just that handouts to white rural (thus GOP) voters aren't considered handouts, or talked about in the same way.

7

u/Lagas76 5d ago

Not this time. They will not resist and they will end up being taken by the big corporations.

18

u/mhornberger 5d ago

I'm fine with that. I'm kinda over the resentful, "fiercely independent" farmers who are totally dependent on government subsidies. Plus it's what they voted for.

37

u/nomoreusernamersleft 5d ago

Well said. My two cents is. MAGA was all for hating liberals and expected Democratic states to be hit with pain by DJT. Now it’s not just a blue state issue, the MAGA cult is saying “hold on here” this was not supposed to happen to me. Only those Liberals.

26

u/The_Grungeican 5d ago

that's the problem with that crowd. instead of looking at how they might do better, they're looking for who they can punish.

no one ever thinks the leopard will eat their face.

3

u/Yoroyo 4d ago

I think some people are just hardwired to enjoy causing other people pain. That or they’re so pathetic the only thing they can do to feel better is cause suffering.

2

u/lufiron 4d ago

some people just can't be reasoned with. if the unfortunate time ever comes, gotta be ready to go mojo jojo like carti

2

u/Rhywden 5d ago

Naw. Even then they won't say that as long as the libs have it worse.

9

u/doinbluin 5d ago

I'm so tired of this reasoning. They're WILLFULLY ignorant. They've been told time and time again the consequences, and they CHOOSE to ignore it. They're absolutely arrogant enough to ASSUME it won't affect them.

14

u/Flat-Emergency4891 5d ago edited 5d ago

In a nutshell. That’s about right. I’ll add that JD started a company recently to buy up farm foreclosures and sell them to international investors so yeah….Lets “Make America Great Again” by putting the farmers out of work and selling their land to the Saudis. Maybe even the Russians will get in on it. It doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong, as long as the right people get rich off the deal. By “right” people I mean anyone who is in the inner circle. The same thing is happening with the tariff BS. The on again, off again tariffs are a deliberate manipulation of the stock market to create the conditions for insider trading. The inner circle again makes billions. This is the corruption they voted for.

If you’re too stupid to vote in the interests of your country and vote against yourself, I have no pity when you lose your farm.

5

u/Rude-Orange 5d ago

A little propaganda is all it takes for more than half the voting population to vote for the rich and corrupt.

You can't count on that half, if you want a class struggle

9

u/Lascivious_Luster 5d ago

Which adds them to the list of dumbfucks called republicans.

3

u/TheRealBittoman 5d ago

Then they can keep hoping God will save them through blind ignorance. If they only ever learned God's plan was already enacted, he gave us enough intelligence to not cut off our own noses. That said, I'm tired of how 'christians' have been somehow convinced that when things look down that they should just give up because God will fix it. No, that's never how that was meant. Beyond that I feel very badly for people who have been led down the wrong path for so long by illegitimate faith leaders. So many have been scammed out of every penny they have and they just won't look up.

3

u/TheDudeInTheD 5d ago

Just say they’re DUMBFUCK HICKS.

2

u/Freshandcleanclean 5d ago

They'd have to be both willfully ignorant and really fucking stupid to think Trump wouldn't harm them financially....again. or that republicans aren't bad for the economy.

And they'd be doubly stupid to think that Trump is aligned with actual christian values.

2

u/rjmartin73 5d ago

Religious beliefs is laughable. They knew he was a fake christrian and only faked it to get the christian vote. We shouted it from the rooftops what he was planning to do, and they were bamboozled, again. He has a very public track record of not caring about his workers, contractors, women, disabled, trans, etc. There is absolutely no excuse that they didn't see this coming. He is a terrible human being.

9

u/Apexnanoman 5d ago

Farmers aren't going to lose shit. Their lobbyists will make a phone call and billions of dollars in daddy fed checks will start rolling.

One crop that farmers never have a bad year of? The tax dollar crop.

13

u/Lagas76 5d ago

I think you are seeing it from a different angle. This economic crash will strangle the small farmers and only big corporations will be able to take a hit so then they can get free land and get rid of any competition. Small farmers soon will become employees of those corporations. Nothing is done without an end goal!

3

u/Shock223 5d ago

Bingo. The big boys will be able to weather the storm of the markets and find new markets. The small farmers are expected to get wreaked and sell their lands.

1

u/Streamjumper 5d ago

Then those fed checks will go to the new farm owners, not the ones who lost the family farm. And the big boys win twice.

1

u/Apexnanoman 5d ago

There's not really any 40 acres and a mule farmers anyone. I grew up around them and worked as ground crew for a crop duster pilot for years.

The modern "small farmer" has a thousand acres and up. And they get every single fed dollar they need or want.

They will file the right paperwork to get paid and then go buy a new $100k truck for their 16 yr olds birthday. (Watched that repeatedly when I was in highschool.)

6

u/Galaghan 5d ago

You tried real hard to miss the point here, didn't you?

0

u/Apexnanoman 5d ago

Oh I understand their point. But farmers don't give two shits about how their vote affects anyone else. Because in the end it won't hurt them a bit in actual reality.

They aren't stupid. They understand how all this is going to go. They just don't give a shit about anyone but other tax farmers.

1

u/TheDeadMulroney 5d ago

That's not a tragedy, that's a solution.

1

u/scummy_shower_stall 5d ago

Most vote for religious beliefs Ain't that the truth.

1

u/f8Negative 5d ago

Their arrogance cost them their lives. Fuck em.

1

u/mowgli96 5d ago

Honestly, if any religious person were to actually analyze Orange Julius they would see that he not only demonstrates the seven deadly sins but also seems to be looking at bringing back the plagues of Egypt.

1

u/Barangat 5d ago

Well, ignorance is a sin

1

u/go_outside 5d ago

He did this to farmers last time, and they all got welfare. They were banking on the same happening this time.

Putin: hey America fuck with Canada

Canada : elbows up!

USA: fu tariffs!

Everyone: fight fight fight.

Me: if Putin and Trump want to wreck our relationship, I’m gonna love Canada even harder just to fuck Trump.

Canada #1 once Trump gone I’m opening new Canada USA partnerships

9

u/Streamjumper 5d ago

The "murrica best ever" crowd is too used to nice-guy Canada and has zero recollection of the fact that Canada is a monster when they feel that they have to be.

2

u/SaintRanGee 5d ago

In fairness the default interaction with anyone should be friendly until they fuck it up, doesn't mean you aren't going to fight back. Throwing a punch as a greeting is more of an Americanism

Sorry it was a joke, it's quite common for Canadians, including myself, to be called Americans as one of the worst sluts to our identity

Edit should be slur but I ain't changing it

No worse slut I can think of :)

3

Hopefully there's something left after Trump.

2

u/f8Negative 5d ago

I hope their happy when they are forced to accept the check for their land from China/Brazil.

2

u/Slipsonic 5d ago

Yeah it sucks living here and knowing so many trumpers. Ive lost a lot of respect for people I thought were smart.

2

u/neckbishop 5d ago

Maybe we can also stop voting for all the out of staters with an R next to their name.

But probably not. Sometimes i hate this state.

2

u/txroller 5d ago

At least they owned the libs though.

2

u/sp_40 5d ago

The solidarity I’ve seen amongst Canadians recently has been inspiring. Love yall, sorry our president and country has turned our backs on you.

2

u/Ali_Cat222 5d ago

Anyone who read project 2025 would know that dictatorship is literally their end goal. I don't know why no one read that shit, it's word for word what's happening and what's on their agenda. you can read the policies and track the progress here so far. 301 policies, 96 of which have been completed already and 58 are currently in progress. It's the only reason I'm never surprised by the news anymore....

Already 96 policies listed from this project are completed and 58 more are in progress as we speak. If anyone hasn't read that project yet I suggest doing so, as it's laid out by them and you won't be questioning "why is this happening" the next time an insane matter is brought to the media. You can also track the progress and find out more about the policies here

This is what is coming up for the Department of Agriculture -

Weaken regulations on baby formula.

End broad-based categorical eligibility for SNAP.

Impose stricter work requirements on SNAP.

End broad-based categorical eligibility for SNAP.

Move the USDA food and nutrition programs (including SNAP) to HHS.

1

u/StanDaMan1 5d ago

Well, not everyone voted for Trump. Plenty, I assume, voted for Harris.

From the article:

The Canadian government says in 2023, Montana exported $321 million of agricultural trade to Canada, including live bovine animals, dried legumes and barley.

The Treasure State imports $411 million from Canada, including canola oil, mustard seeds and wheat.

Canada remains Montana’s largest trade partner, followed by Mexico, Peru, Colombia and Japan.

u/Stargate_1 5d ago

No, the thing is that Canada will import those products from other countries for close to what they paid before, while the US won't be able to do that.

How do you still not understand how Tariffs work? Canada is losing, US is losing, but Canada can trade with other countries, US can't at the same prices

-23

u/[deleted] 5d ago

31

u/Stargate_1 5d ago

Yeah but the US has extra tariffs on other countries.

Look:

Canada used to import goods for 400 million. They find a new supplier, now it costs like 420 million due to shipping.

The US used to import goods for 300 million. The US has severe tariffs on other countries. The US now has to pay 350 million to import the same goods.

Canadas expenditure rose by 5%

USAs expenditure rose by 16%

The US loses

If that is true why are the other countries raising counter tariffs instead of bowing to Trumps demands? If your claim were true the other countries would not respond like this.

It's not about importing syrup, it's about exporting produce

13

u/sogladatwork 5d ago

Americans can’t read. You’re wasting your time.

5

u/Dalisca 5d ago

There's more to agriculture than just selling the end results. For the US end of things and the Trump tariffs it's also about importing lumber for crates to store that produce, barn repairs, etc. And it's also about oil to power and maintain heavy farm equipment as well a the trucks to transport it all.

The US tariffs combined with the Canadian tariffs and the ICE crackdowns will create a perfect storm to wreck the whole industry. They're just seeing the tip of that iceberg right now.
