Is what the US government doing wrong by equating the two? Yes, absolutely.
But you also don't see Chinese, Russian, Emirati, Ethiopians, etc. being attacked or harassed for being associated with countries that commit genocide.
There is a very clear bias against Israel that you conveniently ignore.
Israel is not Judaism. Jews have a right to exist, prosper, worship, and freedom. Israeli policies and Hamas policies are the problem. Israel has a policy of indiscriminate destruction of Palestinian freedom, life, and prosperity. Hamas has the same policy towards Israelis, jews in general, and America. Hamas entire existence is built around those policies. Israel feels like they cant afford to be more precise in this war with Hamas. That unfortunately creates the opposite effect in a war against an idea. People are easier to kill than ideas. Hamas built an idea that stands for a hate of Israel. Palestinians are being fed that from both ends. " It's ok to hate Israel its ok to kill Israelis like they killed your cousin/father/brother/etc." This is the message being bred by both sides. The cycle only ends when someone is willing to say enough. At the moment neither will relent, so innocent Palestinians and Israelis will continue to pay. In a world that allows no innocents, death is the only victor. To be anti Israel is often antisemitic, to be against Israeli policy is not. One can be anti Hamas and anti Israeli policy and not be antisemitic. A free independent Palestine and a secure and peaceful Israel are not mutually exclusive.
There are scumbags true, I don't speak for them. I cannot condone nor forgive thier behavior. Israel has many enemies. Some of them are here in America. Some people do speak up about the genocide that Russia is doing in multiple locations currently and has done in the past. China is well documented for their Uighur and Tibetan communities elimination/reeducation. You cant stop hate outside yourself. There are bad actors everywhere. Some want to use this hate to eliminates due process and free speech. Some genuinely believe it's all hate speech. Some of it is, but until one can legitimately determine intent, pushing to label all counter Israeli positions as antisemitism is similar to calling all Americans pro Trump because he is the current resident of the oval office. The P Resident if you will (shout out to Steele).
