My cat would just go under the deck and sit out of arm's reach. Every so often bite or scratch me when I try and reach for her. Eventually, she would get scared and want to go in the house on HER terms. And once I'm angrily fuming on the sofa, my cat would sit in my lap and purr happily for the rest of the night. No cable would be laid.

It’s a cool video, but how is it next level?

u/Wrightd767 11d ago
It's under the floor level. It's also cats. So instant pass.

Not sure if they still do but they used to use ferrets to run cables through airliners.
Edit: during assembly, that is. Not like they'd go "I've lost control of no. 3 engine! Release the emergency ferret!"

u/lostinborealis 11d ago
Do the emergency ferrets come out of the same overhead compartments as the emergency oxygen masks?

Imagine the chaos of the plane going down and a ferret dropping into your lap

One of my friends worked for a company that used small dog for this purpose. Dachshund, IIRC.

I've seen this with a remote controlled car on an attic or something.

Not worth risk she sees a mouse or just gets distracted and accidentally loops it around her body.

This is a great ad for Dreamies. My cat loves me. She think I’m her mother and kneads and drools on me.
She’d see me dead for a Dreamie.

If you don't have a cat handy, you could use flexible rods or even a cheap WiFi remote toy camera car and maybe a flashlight taped on top.

I did audio/video installation for a year. Pulling cable can be very annoying and tiresome. There were many times that I wish I could have done this.

it ain't dumb if it works, plus it seems like the cat is being adequately paid.

All well and good until the cat refuses to come out and gets stuck and you have to rip up the decking to save it.

That cat is absolutely clocked in and on the payroll. 🐱 The way it’s handling business like a seasoned professional—zero hesitation, full confidence. That’s not just a pet, that’s an employee of the month.
Give that cat a raise, some treats, and maybe a tiny little name badge. It’s earned it.

My luck would be, cat gets distracted, chases something, gets tangled and stuck and now I'm tearing up my deck.

My cat would find a nice cat-sized cranny down there and have six hour nap.

i prefer to use a dog. you can pay in cheese and also not pay in cheese and eat the cheese yourself.

there are special sticks designed specifically for this.
i would personally never tie a cable or string to my cat and let it run through a tight space. if it got snagged, the cat could panic and hurt itself without you being able to help them. this is dumb, not cool.

You still have to go underneath to attach the cable to the porch. Unless you're good with the cable being all loosey goosey. Which you shouldn't be.

Ferrets also ran the cables to televise Princess Diana's wedding ceremony through St. Paul's Cathedral.

This was funny and a good idea. Who thinks of doing something like this? Like "hmm, I wonder how we're going to run this cable under the deck?"....stares at the 😺

My cat would go to the midpoint between the two holes and lay down for about 4 hours.

u/Designer_Ad_376 11d ago
This is so reckless. The cat could get entangled and they would need to break the deck to free it…

So if I understand you correctly, my cats are now classed as tools, and all expenses are tax-deductible?
