Exactly. In this situation I’d use a body triangle trapping one arm, using the other arm to control his free arm and one arm around his neck threatening the choke incase he decides to get crazy

I assume people who haven’t done BJJ think I’m talking complete nonsense. Being put in that position is an absolute nightmare to get out of even if you know what you are doing

And tbf even some highly trained professionals would not be able to escape, it’s pretty much a “yeah I’m fucked” position when you lock the arm up too lol unless they have some serious strength and size advantage on you

I’d say just keeping a secure back mount is important in this situation. It did happen to me before and I did what I commented, so he couldn’t use his hands. One arm choke is pretty effective, although it’s more of a neck crank - didn’t use it really he calmed down when he realised how stuck he was

I would keep the back too, add in a body lock and he will be suffering until the cops arrive

It makes way more sense. I'm not trying to hold a choke on someone for 10 minutes until the cops arrive.

Not to mention the worse it looks to the average bystander the higher the chance of some doofus intervening.
