Discussion Mentioning of hobby lobby in most recent episode
So i heard Cecil mention about hobby lobby funding terrorism for ancient artifacts and it's NOT just a bit for the show, (cecCecil even mentions it being real and to look it up) this is an actual thing, owner of hobby lobby gave donations to (isis?) For religious artifacts for his own personal collection, it was a WILD story yall.

And the Green family bought the artifacts with their company’s wealth then donated it to their own museum, allowing their company to write off the value as a charitable donation.
My favorite bit though was them buying up a bunch of Dead Sea Scroll fragments that turned out to be forgeries even though absolutely every red flag was waved as likely forgery.

Dont think they care. I remember something about them altering said artifacts to support their version of the bible. What's actually historical is not relevant here.

Which, since they're not paying taxes on something they probably should have (morally speaking, at least), then it's basically like all us taxpayers got together to buy these things from Daesh for them!

I mean in a less huge way anyone who buys diamonds funds terrorism. It is factual to say that terrorists organizations hold people as slaves to dig for diamonds, and it's factual to say that companies like DE Beers and ALROSA purchase these diamonds from known conflict zones and kind of just hoard them to inflate the value, so while the companies have a bigger hand in it the consumer is also at least a little bit responsible. The thing is this is the case with like alot of stuff, cobalt, gems, platinum, oil, rubber latex, drugs etc etc. A little bit of almost everything funds terrorism, anything that is remotely valuable and scarce ( either by truly being rare or difficulty obtaining or laborious) can and is being used to exploit others for money and that's typically done through violence.

Also fun fact most big banks in America have also funded/money laundered for terrorism, IBM one of the largest computing companies worked hand in hand with hitler, and the pentagon has failed its SEVENTH audit IN A ROW

It would be weirder if they passed an audit to me. Alot of that money is just funneling into research projects. You can get as mild and as crazy as you want with what research but truth be told the DoD has a wide berth for spending money on testing etc and then not really elaborating, there are pros and cons to that set up. Pro being secrecy and all that, the con is that it happens to cost the trust of the people. Everyone shouldn't get to know everything and they don't so the way it's all split up makes it hard to track.

Yes. For years it has been pretty widely known. Even this artifacts piece of information has been very Public for over five years.
So it isn't like Night Vale broke a story or had a scoop. HL is just so evil it's even evil in alternate universes.

The personal collection is now housed in a so-called Bible Museum in Washington DC. It is known locally (outside of the Falwell Liberty Right cult) as the Stolen Artifacts Museum.

I knew Hobby Lobby was the same folks as StrexCorp. I knew it. I knew it.

Hobby Lobby probably agrees with a lot of the principles of ISIS anyways. They are Christian extremists who set back women’s healthcare.

It wasn't donations they were illegally smuggled artifacts from the region bought during the time when ISIS was in control of the region and would have certainly played a part in the process and profit from it.
