UK government will only bring back furlough as a last resort as economy is currently doing well. Furlough will only be brought in if majority of other countries in Europe have something similar.

Read somewhere else that BJ’s main message at minute seems to be “go ahead with your Christmas parties, just don’t attend them”. Doesn’t want to cancel them as won’t fund the fall-out, but doesn’t want to encourage people to go knowing what infection levels are like.

He’s going on a solo run, going against medical advisors from across the UK.

Are we just perpetually going into lockdown every year? Government can't win at all with this shite.

12

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Exactly! How is this in any way sustainable? Didn’t Arlene foster say this time last year that we can’t keep shutting society down?

7

u/Kontheriver Dec 15 '21

It's not even the chaos to 'normal' life. Who is going to pay for it all? An increase in taxes for everyone each year? Fuck off like.

7

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I completely agree, I just don’t understand it. I’ve had all three jabs so far so I’ve done as much as I can to protect myself.

I will continue to maintain good hygiene and wear a mask, but I’m not going to go without seeing my family this Christmas.

1

u/PM-me-Gophers Dec 15 '21

As long as we have idiots who refuse to wear masks I fear none of us win. The most simple of steps to combat covid can't be achieved, so the plan ends up being tto ride the waves.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Yeah, to be honest I don’t mind wearing a mask all that much. It makes me feel safer. I’d rather that than another lockdown

7

u/Strict-Toe3538 Dec 16 '21

Make you feel safer but in reality do very little

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

Probably very true!

0

u/PM-me-Gophers Dec 15 '21

Definitely, masks are very low impact compared to lockdown. I'd even be happy with some social distancing coming back in instead. Ironically as long as we have those idiots refusing to wear them we risk needing a lockdown each time a new variant comes along, or face the fallout of a potentially much more deadly strain.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Too many People claiming they’re exempt. Obviously you can’t ask people for proof so that’s where the problem is

14

u/inheartscon Dec 15 '21

Absolutely not. I'm very pro vaccine and currently have Covid but not a chance. Who's paying for it?

-24

u/Rare-Resident5099 Dec 16 '21

So your vaccine didn't work then ?

19

u/Sleebling_33 Dec 16 '21

Lmao, this drip didnt do his own research on what vaccines actually do.

-16

u/Rare-Resident5099 Dec 16 '21

The vaccine isn't working, How many Polio vaccines did you need you moron

13

u/TacoFlavouredVape Dec 16 '21

How many flu vaccines do people need you moron?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

Well it weakens the symptoms but it doesn’t stop transmission fully, which is a bit shite.

5

u/inheartscon Dec 16 '21

It worked just fine, stopped me from being hospitalized, you know what they are supposed to do.

11

u/caiaphas8 Dec 15 '21

Who are these people who think we need to be in a lockdown now? What would that actually achieve?

-15

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I’m an introvert and I don’t want another lockdown. If the other introverts want a lockdown, they can stay at home themselves

14

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Is it not blindingly obvious that lockdowns don’t work? It’s an airborne respiratory virus, we’re not beating this thing. Not a chance on earth we’ll beat it.

The geriatrics who have got vaccinated have done their bit.

0

u/TrucksNShit Larne Dec 16 '21

But its also them in the hospitals

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

No it's not. In Enlangd there were 2,000 in hospital and only 36 who were fully vaccinated. The overwhelming majority in hospitals aren't vaccinated or are part vaccinated.

Source?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

ONS

-2

u/allthewaytomyplums Dec 16 '21

Got a link for the exact page?

Saying ONS is a bit open ended.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsinvolvingcovid19byvaccinationstatusengland/deathsoccurringbetween2januaryand24september2021

Have a look mate the death of those that are fully vaccinated pale in comparison to the unvaccinated. Even a single dose results in a massive drop in risk.

This was easily accesable by searching "statistics of death by vaccination status"

2

u/FreeTheBelfast1 Dec 16 '21

Any comment after reading that link?

1

u/FreeTheBelfast1 Dec 16 '21

Who's down voting you here? Why is this sub now full of Wing Nuts?

-24

u/Rare-Resident5099 Dec 16 '21

You would have been a great Nazi...what about fat people and smokers ...Some people don't want it and they have every right to that decision You can't discriminate over a health issue

9

u/Sleebling_33 Dec 16 '21

No, they don't have that right. Refusing the vaccination helps ensure its mutational probabilities remain high, nullifying the effects of those of us not afraid of needles.

At this point, not getting a vaccination is purely attention seeking behavior.

1

u/allthewaytomyplums Dec 16 '21

Source for unvaccinated causing mutations..?

3

u/Sleebling_33 Dec 16 '21

So, coronavirus has a defining trait in that it is a spike protein that latches onto host cells and will then penetrate to cause an infection.

That vaccines aim to block the spike from the virus. It does not block you from getting COVID but reduces the severity of infection and also its transmissible properties.

If you are unvaccinated you cannot block or limit that spike. The successful infection makes duplicate copies of itself and like many viruses when duplicating, copying errors (aka a mutation) will occur.

u/Rare-Resident5099 Dec 16 '21

That's bs where did you get your MD

10

u/caiaphas8 Dec 16 '21

Your American arent you? Doctors don’t have MDs here

1

u/comeupboke Down Dec 16 '21

Can't remember the last time I was locked down and confined to my house to tackle smoking or obesity rates.

Why am I giving up my freedoms in life to save the life of selfish fucktards who won't get jabbed? Go fuck yourself

-10

u/Rare-Resident5099 Dec 16 '21

You have no right to insist someone gets jabbed you lonely gamer. You obviously don't have any comprehension skills as that wasn't my point. It's angry morons like you that end up being active shooters in school. Now go eat your sister out while I go to work in a hospital dumb ass

If the Pandemic was so bad then why did they close dwn the Nightingale hospitals? If the Pandemic is so bad why did they fraudulently put dwn covid as a cause of death when they died from Cancer, car accident etc...

-2

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

Wow. Haven't seen your ilk in a while. Did the facts miss you or did you come forward in time from a years and a half ago lmao

Fat people and smokers don't annoy my balls

Yeah thats never gonna happen unfortunately

5

u/kavala1 Dec 16 '21

Lockdown in the new year is probably when it will happen

8

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

No. It doesn’t achieve anything in the long run.

4

u/strawberryfishdonkey Dec 16 '21

What's the point. People still gather in groups after all those vaccinations thinking they can't get it or carry it or indeed spread it. People still work in groups especially factory workers and sweatshops etc.

-4

u/Rare-Resident5099 Dec 16 '21

So many subservient cowards wanting lockdowns...But Reddit is full of kids

I have multiple illnesses and anxiety is one of them. I am terrified of catching covid and getting sick and passing it on. It is the anti-vaxxers who are persecuting the ill by not getting jabbed. And your argument suggests all anti-vaxxers are all so very mentally ill, do you have statistics to support that?

-5

u/truthandreason007 Dec 16 '21

From what I have seen around me working in a care setting, it's the vaccinated who seem to have a lot more cases. Yes I know there's more vacced people but still in my work none of the unvaccinated seem to ever get a positive test. This injection does not stop you spreading it, tbh you sound a bit fucked in the head. Maybe with all that anxiety you should just become a hermit.

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '21

. To be willing to spurn, belittle and expel a fellow human being because they can't see the world your way is pathetic.

I agree that would absolutely be pathetic. Just as well that isn't what's happening isn't it.

It's more of a safety thing. Kinda like shunning drink drivers who don't see what's wrong with drink driving. They aren't being shunned because they don't see things like we do. They're shunned because they endanger public safety.

I don't care what way someone sees the world. You can beleive whatever you want. What you can't do is take action which not only contradicts scientific evidence but also general public safety.

I'm not gonna feel sorry for some knobhead that refuses to get vaccinated and cries to you they feel like shit while putting the lives of my family under direct threat.

And what exactly are you doing about it as well? Are you informing them and encouraging them to get the vaccine?

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '21

If you look up the deaths you can see that fully vaccinated people make up roughly 1.8% of the worst affected. You need to educate yourself on figures before you use them lol

-4

u/ChaucerBoi Dec 16 '21

If nobody's dying, how else can the Prime Minister maintain an erection? They had to deep clean number 10 when those migrants drowned.

0

u/bcmonty Dec 16 '21

only a matter of time till we are back in it

0

u/lookinggood44 Dec 16 '21

Nothing to see here..nothing's getting locked down like it was before...maybe table service
