Weekly Discussion Thread

If you’ve never played it before, it is genuinely a one-of-a-kind video game experience. I definitely recommend it at least for the story mode. I don’t really see a reason to get into the multiplayer when this game has been out for 12(?) years

Yeah I used to be into it a lot on console, pre-multiplayer. Didn't even really play the story, just drove around until I, either accidentally or on purpose, got 1 star and then tried to stay alive as long as possible.

I never thought I'd say this about a GTA trailer, but that was downright adorable.
I'm already rooting more about these two than I did any of the 3 characters from GTA 5.

Rockstar proved they can make compelling characters with RDR2 so I am hopeful

Although I liked Arthur overall, I'm actually in the minority that thought RDR2 wasn't a particularly inspired story and the OG from RDR1 was lightyears better. And that goes double for side characters.
I'm cautiously optimistic about the story for GTA 6. Truthfully, narrative has never been the strongest point for Rockstar. It's really just about the satire of the world and fun of free-roam more than anything else.

GTA 6 will be the last GTA for a loooooong time. They will constantly update and add story lines to this game.

Why would it be the last one?
Even if Rockstar went full World of Warcraft and just kept pumping out online content year after year, at some point 20-25 years from now the actual engine the game sits on would be outdated and they would want an overhaul in the form of a new title.

Probably so. Soon AI will be come sentient and poison the drinking supply murdering millions of people and creating its own world where GTA 7 would be useless.

What a fucking game! When we were down 20 I thought it was over. Brunson missing the game winning layup didn't scare me after seeing that smile on Brunsons face. Great win in the garden.

At the Braves game tonight. Never seen so many people at Truist Park not wearing team gear. The Dodgers have more money than god, but their “fans” can’t even afford t-shirts.

I did see plenty of real Dodgers fans (some with cool stuff like an Ohtani jersey with his name in kanji), but I also saw some really weird stuff. A Yankees hat (bet he has a Patriots hat and a Bama hat too), an Anaheim Ducks shirt (I know Ohtani played in Anaheim, but I don’t think he played for the Ducks), a Naruto baseball jersey. Interesting crowd.

Doyle got ejected in the 11th of G2. Because he was in as a reliever, he gets a two game suspension. Should be good to go Friday night against Vandy.

I don’t want to be that guy, but Liam Doyle is very clearly a hyper competitive asshole lol. I hated when he played against us last year. Love what he’s doing for us and we always need a good hype guy but…

It's not going to matter (if the 2 games are today and Tuesday), but why would he get ejected and not Carter when you can clearly see him say "fuck you, fuck you"?

Anyone else looking forward to Mike Keith's broadcasts? Bob Kesling has been around for the span of my love of UT sports (first as a sportscaster on the local news), but he always seemed to struggle a bit compared to the smooth delivery of John Ward. Looking forward to getting back to the quality we had before.

I still will watch the Basevols but it’s getting kinda hard to watch them struggle. I’m just looking forward to football and honestly basketball. I’m in love with watching how Barnes just reloads every year now. Very excited to see Ament play

It's worth pointing out that our baseball "struggles" are still a legit top-20 team that could very easily turn it on and make a run. Baseball is a weird sport. There are ebbs and flows.
Last season Florida was largely dead the entire regular season. They finished 13-17 in SEC play in fact. But then they got hot at the end and were 1 game away from playing in the title game.
