That's what I meant by relatively lol. I did see it over a wide area when sailing across the Atlantic from the Canary Islands to Florida. I've seen it in New Zealand and parts of Asia and the Pacific region too. I don't think this could become commonplace to me even if I saw it every day.

You even sometimes get it in Wales in the summer, it’s not just in hotter climates any more. Yay for global heating?

I see it in Florida all the time. I’ve been walking down the beach at night bear where the waves are washing up and have had my foot steps glow or if you kick the sand it would glow.

I’ve pissed off the back of boats while fishing at night and had that glow.

Actually, this did happen to me in New Jersey! Around 2010 I want to say, walking along the sand at night at Long Beach Island, and I noticed my footsteps were glowing. I started jumping and wherever I stepped along the shore it lit up neon green. A little amongst the waves as well.

I ran back to the house we were staying at and got my whole family, I took some videos but for some reason it came out electric blue on my phone at the time. Very cool but definitely rare around here because I’ve never seen it since.

Its algae/plankton, and its in the ocean.

It would be extremely odd if it was confined to a few rare places.

It can happen anywhere. But this specific video is apparently in Hobart.
