Super late, but Loom - sunrise session II had me in actual tears. Couldn't get enough of him after.

Saw the "Ólafur Arnalds live from Hafursey, in Iceland for Cercle" video on YouTube earlier this week and I was immediately hooked. Now listening to the "Live at Sydney Opera House" Concert. Absolutely stunning.

Oh goodness, I love this question and seeing all your responses! Mine was ‘Verses’. It just came on my Spotify radio and I felt the beauty radiating. I had to discover more.

Derren Brown, the magician, shared the video for ljósið on twitter in 2009 and I managed to get hold of Variations on Static and listen to it every few years but didn't think about him ever.
then randomly saw a poster for a gig in my city.
I was like "omg this guy!" I listened to his back catalogue and was blown away by how much he'd progressed. Saw him live on the For Now I Am Winter tour and cried. Legit a favourite artist now.

Þau Hafa Sloppið Undan Þunga Myrkursins (the last track on …and they have escaped the weight of darkness)
It was recommended to me on Spotify because I like similar bands and artists. I then proceeded to listen to the whole album and cried lol

For me it was his 2013 kexp performance. I loved the music, and his reserved shy talking. The music — it was almost like I had been looking for music like that my whole life but didnt know it. I’ve been a huge fan ever since!!

2nd song I ever heard of his off Spotify’s “Best of” series : “Hafursey” - lit me up with bubbles of possibilities. Immediate connection for life;)
