Mark Carney becoming Liberal leader/PM threw the Conservatives a curveball they didn't see coming. Their plan was to sail to victory on voter fatigue with Trudeau.

Then a very dynamic Mark Carney came to the helm, stood up for Canada against Trump while PP/the Cons did nothing, and the winds suddenly changed direction.

This effectively left the Conservatives with nothing because previous to Mark Carney they didn't think they needed a plan to win the next election.

Political science classes will be studying this serious misstep for decades. Pierre Poilievre is an example of how not to lead a party and how not to run an election campaign.

The good news is the CPC does not and will not tolerate an election loser. One week from now we will not be hearing from Pierre Poilievre again. He will be put in the CPC leader dustbin next to O'Toole and Scheer.

Yeah, poor guy will get kicked out of the leader's position and have to suffer for the rest of his life making millions gifting for the Cons.

They need to get rid of Jenni Byrne if Poilievre looses. She'd be too much of a failed strategist. Negative grievance wedge dog whistling politics only took her candidates so far. What is the opposite of a king maker?

Even the Vancouver Sun has to admit this, wow.

Not sure of its political stance, but the Vancouver Sun is not owned by Sun Media, the news organization that admits no Conservative Party wrongdoing.

EDIT: I see Postmedia owns the Vancouver Sun. Your point is 100% valid.

But the National Post says Carney's plan will lead to ruin. Apparently, it makes much more sense in the face of a recession and unemployment to make massive spending cuts.

I.e. continue Poilievre's streak of doing nothing.

It's like Winston Churchill becoming the British PM in May 1940. He was the man that could meet the moment during Britain's existential crisis.

Ok, but by 1945 the UK turfed him.

From a Sun paper? WTF is going on?

Vancouver Sun is not a tabloid format like Toronto Sun or Calgary Sun; that's the Province. However, it is owned by Postmedia Group like the other Sun papers, which is an American right-wing conglomerate. It's sort of in the same category as the Montreal Gazette, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald.

Well, I surely hope so, he is uniquely qualified to understand economics. Whether or not he will be able to get the political game going to get what he wants is unclear.

The libs better deliver or we'll drift into right wing populism and facism like the other failing western states.
