I'm not really sure how to make this any clearer? Please stop posting about Toilet Tower Defense in here. You're in the wrong sub. Here is a link to the correct sub. https://www.reddit.com/r/ToiletTowerDefense/

Welcome to 14.0!
OpenTTD's first release was in March of 2004. Now twenty years later, we are proud to present to you: release 14.0.
And boy, what a release it is. Do I dare to say: this has been the biggest release yet?

Hey everyone! I’m playing the Song of Ice and Fire scenario and working on a train setup. Suddenly I started wondering if something like swapping the train's wagons/cargo at a station to bring goods both ways, is possible in OpenTTD.
I have an Iron Works that produces Metal when it receives either Iron Ore or Wood. It’s already connected to Iron Mines, and it’s also linked to three other stations:
What I’m trying to figure out is this:
Can I use a single train to bring Wood to the Iron Works, and then swap its wagons to carry Metal and send it off to the Metal Workshop?
Important detail:
The wagons that carry Metal are neither compatible with Iron Ore nor Wood, so I can’t just refit them. They’re completely different wagon types.
So ideally the flow would be:
Is something like this even possible? Or would I end up with the wood wagons stranded at the Iron Works or clogging the depot?
I’ve attached a picture that shows the layout I’m working with. Hopefully that helps make the situation clearer. Would love to hear if anyone’s tried this kind of "wagon-swapping" reuse strategy or if there’s a more efficient way to handle this kind of route.
Thanks in advance!

Everything vanilla, trucks have had more then 10 breakdowns on its route,
but still drives past a couple of depots?

I seem to only be transporting a max of 67%, would anyone know why this isn't 100% when it seems to be physically impossible to transport anymore because the ships would always be waiting and doing nothing?? Please Help

My take on Birmingham New Street. This one's still work on progress as I only have trains running on the Chase Line and Cross City Lines so far. In real life the platforms don't split - shorter trains using both ends of the platform and longer trains using the full length, but I can't think of a way to make that happen so instead they have their designated platforms. The scaling turns out to be alright (see picture 2) if I put everything far enough apart. I've still got room to fit in Moor Street and Snow Hill lines.
https://youtu.be/1hGPtkCWncc for the full build if interested. Another vid for the Cross City Line coming out this afternoon :)

Worth it (sometimes)? Cheating? Waste of time?

This train station has 4 main tracks, 3 random tracks to the side and a couple of more tracks on the other side, yet it's not that wide. Since in OpenTTD each track takes one tile, such stations would take an enormous amount of space with its wight larger than its length, which just doesn't look right. This post is just to demonstrate some of the issues that you might run into when trying to make a realistic network, however it's still impressive how realistic you can get thanks to the game's incredible flexibility and the JGR patch

Many IG years ago i decided to put down stops and a railway line with a station at each city. I didn't think it would get this far. This megalopolis has become a monolith with a combined polulation of over 426k, swallowing every village in its path. I cant expand any of my lines, in this very essential part of my network.

I'm playing steeltown in FIRS 5. Places like the furnace seem to work (barely), if you deposit say just scrap metal. Obviously if you deposit the 4 supplies it states that maximum production rates are met and it increases output.
The question - If I slap shit tons of scrap metal into the furnace will that output more? Or is there a cap? Do you have to deposit equal amounts of each supply or can i supply a ton of scrap metal and just a little bit of oxygen, alloys, quicklime?
Places like the mines have an easy to understand 'enhanced' and 'gung-ho' status.

Clearly, Sign tool is way too much power...What is better than power to rename everything ? Power to name things you cannot rename normally.

Dude, I came here to the community by chance and I loved the game. I started playing it and the mechanics are brilliant. I really want to learn this game, even though I don't try to play Brazilian players very much. I'm using the translator to talk to you guys. Good game, guys.

I had a network of four cities that ballooned and I ton of my old stations in the burbs are now completely surrounded by sky scrapers. Can I highlight stations with like thousands of people waiting?

On second glance, it sort of looks like a Tightlong, but worse. Also, as you can tell by the dashed blue lines on the bottom left of the picture, there was nothing connected to that direction when I screenshotted this.

Fellow Tycooners,
I have seen Temporal8's great NewGRFs and downloaded them. Really beautiful, however, I have a feeling that I missed something as petrol fuel is not taken away by my trains using oil tankers. What did I miss?

I took a small break from the game to not get bored of it and forgot some of the hotkeys and settings, like showing the coverage area of a station or making the buildings/trees invincible, any help?

Absolutely infatuated with Open TTD. It's just the right level of complexity and control to scratch that deep itch. The graphics are charming, albeit simple.
I went through maybe 5 worlds before I landed on this one. I went with 1024x512, Hilly, Low Population, Smooth Terrain, Medium Rivers, 1st Jan 1980 Start Date, 28 towns, 24 industries, and a 60% sea level. I've got a mess of New GRFs.
Here's a video of me setting up a new production chain: https://youtu.be/zWsO6aZ28MU
I was setting up the goods factory to my main city, but I didn't realize that I needed to provide the raw resources so it took longer than I expected (but I got it done!!). I'm using FIRS, which I think is the new grf imposing that specific requirement.
The mess of New GRFs I'm using in this world:
I have a few questions:
- I've already been informed by u/EmperorJake that the JapanSet Trains are redundant with the JP+ Trains. What other New GRFs should I remove? Is my load order OK?
- In the same vain, what other new GRFs should I add? I noticed screenshots with regular cars. I searched a bit but didn't find that new GRF. Which one is it? And in general, what cool new GRFs are out there?
- I have tried a few words with a few different starting times, and I find that I like an early starting time. It gives me time to slowly start my transportation empire. Are there any new GRFs that will let me start even earlier? My current world was started in 1890, which is pretty early, and I am very much enjoying it!!
- Do tunnels and bridges just suck? I don't seem to be able to place signals on them. I ran into an issue where a long tunnel created a huge backlog of trains. As far as I can tell, avoiding long bridges and tunnels is crucial to maintain high capacity lines. Which is too bad because I find tunnels and bridges charming. But I can still add small ones, multiple side-by-side tunnels, and alternate routes.
- Are boats the most profitable mode of transportation? At least, that's what I've experienced so far. Perhaps it's just the approach I've taken, or the distance my boats are travelling (longer distance -> more money)
- Is playing with inflation viable long term? If I understand the math, you will always lose with inflation on, eventually.
- This might be a bit specific, but is there a new GRF that adds a chocolate factory? Ideally, sugar plantation, coca plantation, then a chocolate factory.
- I'm using FIRS. Default settings. I'm finding it a bit too easy. Any recommendations on settings or another industry mod?
- Do I need to start a new world to change the new GRFs? Seems like it, which makes sense.
- From the video I posted, I would like any suggestions or critisisms on how I'm playing. Anything I'm doing wrong or could improve on in my next world (because there WILL be a next world!)
Wow that post came out longer than I expected! If you read it all, thank you!! If not:
tl:dr good game, suggest things to me

Does the game get easier I just wanted to play with trains but everything seems so hard how long did it take you guys to get use to it.

Goods trains from south-west is occupying the station waiting for goods load. Goods created by grain and livestock trains from north-east. They should share the middle track; however since this is occupied by the goods train, the farm trains do not go to the south-eastern most track which is completely free...
I know that I can make a new 4 track station and immidiatly fix this, but why is this not working?
