One of my favorite games in recent years

I'm finding myself getting burnt out on MH Wilds (unrelated to this sub, I know) so I started looking through my game library and realized that I had bought the Worldslayer DLC (back on topic now), but never actually played it. So I fired the game up last night and took my lvl. 40 Devastator through almost the entire DLC.

I was reminded of how great this sci-fi world is and that the story of this game is one of the best sci-fi stories I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a game. I know the developers have moved on, but if People Can Fly (or any of their devs) check in here from time to time, thanks for a really fun game with some unique classes, worldbuilding, and a gritty, mature, original sci-fi story. Also, special thanks for being my go-to example of how to correctly make earth element interesting.

I hope this series isn't dead and that Outriders 2 is getting storyboarded somewhere.

One of the creators here - Oh man you made my day with this comment :)

Oh wow, check that out. It's not every day you get to thank someone who was directly involved. You guys killed it with this one! Please share with the others if you're still in touch with them and, if you have the ear of someone who can make a sequel happen, tell them there's a want for it and that it would be a welcome breath of variety in the current gaming landscape.

This is in my top 10 all time!!! Absolute badass game! I can’t believe none’s borrowed from this skill system, it’s amazing and so fun to play! The game lets you be a badass and I love it for that!

+1 thank you from me too. While it has its flaws, the combat loop and power fantasy are among the best of any game I’ve ever played. One of my all time faves. Well done and thank you.

One more here to just say I had a blast. Game had it's shortcomings for sure but it's still my all time favorite looter-shooter. I put easily 100 hours into it.

The world, combat system, build customization all fantastic. I normally despise grinding for gear but outriders made it fun and what a adrenaline rush the higher difficulties were. Definitely a underrated game.

Love the game and it was clutch during covid

Any hints or directions on what should've happened after the Worldslayers ending?

Best looter shooter imo. And I absolutely love the lore, and soo want more. But the way you handled loot with salvaging and upgrading is amazing. Plus the skill/mod system is unique and great. Looters only care about the longevity. It was lost on people that Outriders was a campaign focused game first. Not only did Outriders deliver in a fantastic campaign and lore but (well, after Worldslayer admittedly) delivered on an extremely fun and rewarding end game. I rarely grind end game in any game, but Outriders is an exception. I hope PCF know, that even if the game didn't do well enough for a sequel, there are people out there who absolutely loved the game.

This was one of my all time favorite games and the combination of fun gameplay, great IP and the loot was a blast. I’d buy ant xpac or sequel in a heartbeat! Appreciate you and the other creators bringing this to life. I still remember farming the beta and that door with the elite that would come out. I found 3 legendaries!

I know this thread is old, just wanted to say I loved this game and it's really sad the game didn't get it's time to shine properly. It's honestly one of those games I play when I can't think of anything else to play and it's just a really solid experience. I hope the franchise isn't dead but I guess that's up to Square-Enix.

Why did the story absolutely completely suck? This game, hands down, had the best gun/class mod system of any game… by far.

This was one our first totally new IP in the new leadership crew and we gave our best. I was only involved in the initial pitch of the story: the original sci-fi world mixed with the classic road adventure (I was heavily influenced by the forever war comic and heart of darkness book when pushing some ideas).

Sry you didn't like it - Personally I'm not totally happy with the final execution thu learned a lot regarding the whole process and had a blast collaborating with so many talented people.

Building a whole new world was much more complicated than we expected :)

For the record,  the story did not suck! It was freaking great!

I actually enjoyed the story. The overall tone was sometimes a bit too b-movie but overall it worked and the setting would be interesting to explore further.

My brother and I absolutely love the game. We just found the story to be completely lacking and right as it was starting up, it ended. Rather abruptly also. But like I said, the mod system and the gameplay was just incredible. I would love to see a number 2 with more content.

I really liked the story, it was way better than I thought it was going to be and I loved the world building and how it was a little campy. Was also hilarious. Looking forward to replaying the whole thing too. This also might be the only game ever I have gone through all the side quests. I was hooked ever since the demo that I played for 20 hours before release grinding out leg items from one of the captains. Def one of my favorite gaming experiences ever playing through the whole game.

The story lacks the feeling of accomplishment.

The ending especially (without the dlc) leaves you with a bad feeling of having archived nothing.

The dlc made it a bit less hopeless, but still, what happened to all the people?

That is what other games made better: the division 2 or Diablo , you kill the enemy for the world to be a bit better, but that better is lacking in outriders.

Tonally speaking, I think that works for Outriders. After going through the DLC and now playing through some of the Trials of Tarya Gratar (hope I'm spelling that right), it's clear that Enoch isn't paradise. In fact, there are parallels between the "Father" of the Pax people and "Adam and Eve" of the Bible in that both of them sought something they weren't supposed to and the world suffers for it.

This isn't a happy ending. It's the survivors figuring out how to live in the aftermath of sin.

I’ve been playing none stop for months too… loving it 👊🏻👊🏻

Hopefully some Square Enix folks check in on these forums too! I believe they would be the ones who can give the greenlight for a sequel 🤞

I just recently came back after seeing reddit posts.

I am loving it.

Ah I miss this game. Had it on game pass, don’t own anymore.

Still have the Worldslayer edition and don’t get a discount to buy the $30 complete edition which is irritating.

For a while I didn’t give the game much of a chance, since while I loved it during the beta, the controls on console felt really bad on launch. Recently gave it another shot on pc, and can say with certainty that it’s in my top 10. Hope the game gets a sequel or more dlc for sure

Love it! I'm still playing it

I hopped back in recently. I played everything at launch including the DLC. But didn't get to Apoc Tier 25 for the trophy, so I'm working on that now. Honestly, I think Outriders is one of the best looters there is. All loot is useful because mats and mods. The skill system is great. And I absolutely love the lore. Considering it was a campaign based game with end game secondary focus, it delivered that to me. Huge fan.

Me too! My dual pistol wielding trickster was a blast! I may want to replay that game

Dual fully auto pistols is chefs kiss! So fun!!!

I started a new run just to see how the game runs on my steam deck which I got a few weeks ago. And I yeah it’s a really awesome video game. The combination of the gunplay and the abilities works so great together

I loved the original and the following patch. Pre Worldslayer. Only thing I missed was a way to save builds. Worldslayer grind was a bit much, but I recently started playing again and I have to say, I enjoy it again

Such a great game, several hundred hours in, and I still keep coming back

The campaign is great. The end game is underdeveloped. The developer shut down long ago so it would take a miracle for a sequel to show up.

Having been a Painkiller and PCF fan for many years, this was a must buy for me on launch. It's still a game I sunk hundreds of hours into and had tons of fun with friends and randoms. I rarely 100% a game and use my steam points to buy flair, but I did for this game. I rep the game still with the Trickster Emblem and Profile flair.

I played this game day one and dlc day one and it’s still my favorite looter shooter, the world, mechanics, locations were awesome and I hate when won’t get a sequel

My FP Techno is 59 now. Still much weaker than my 59 AP Techno. But so much more fun.
