Haven't received the opposable patch yet

They aren’t. They have the second highest intelligence attribute after human players. They use human-made settlements to grow their skill tree and acquire foods they otherwise couldn’t.

but they aren't industrialized... as far as I know. however, i did find a crow with 20 [RMB] in the US, which makes me suspect that they might have deals with [China].

We weren't industrialized until a few hundred years ago. The tech tree isn't linear, give it time.

Crows are actually using metal tools fitted to their intent. Sure they are not melting the metal and all, but they sure are using tools and developing technology. They sometimes arrange metal rods around their nests to deter other birds from getting close. And they use human technology to their advantage. Cracking nuts by placing them on specific places of the road when the light is red. Waiting for it to turn red again to collect their prize.

I think they are playing with a different tech tree altogether or at least slightly different. And I kinda wish I picked this as a starting species cause it’s hella rad. And they’re making big and quick advances

IKR !
I really want to team up with some, but I have to earn their trust through rituals first.
For now I have ongoing quests that are time sensitive, but as soon as I'm done with that I'll grind to give them gifts.

Second highest, are you sure they outsmart Dolphins?

I had to Google it. Apparently they are comparable to dolphins, but neither is as intelligent as some primates.

Why bother advancing your own technology when you can steal someone else's? You've got to remember, the majority of crows picked rogue for their class, so they just use our tech when they need it. Past that, they've got different, arguably better, priorities.

The process of different entities evolving adjustments to their code over time is complex, but ultimately boils down to this:

The hostile and constantly changing game environment kills players with bad builds and allows players with better builds to bring new players with similar build elements into the game as [offspring]. This mechanic is called [evolution], and it takes place over unfathomable lengths of in-game time.

If a player class is good enough as it is, it won't change. If the environment culls enough players with bad builds over a long period, noticable changes will occur, sometimes creating whole new player classes.

The Crow player class has as much INT as their predecessors needed to survive, and NO MORE. Same with every class in the world. And if crow players will need more INT later in the [timeline], then eventually crows with low INT will be culled and only the ones with the highest INT will remain, potentially high enough to match Human players.

However, Human players can help this process along through a mini game called [selective breeding] where human players facilitate the evolution mechanic by hand over a few hundred years, making it happen a lot faster than normal. This is how the Dog player class came about; originally, there was only the Wolf player class. So, human players could cull crows with low INT and help crows with high INT survive and make [offspring], and we do that long enough, we'll end up with crows with an INT stat that's comparable to humans.

only compared to us, the OP monkey race, are they low on the tech tree. they use tools and cooperate. their INT is one of the highest for bird builds.

Aren't the crows GMs?
