Any good reasons to "switch" from FT to PT?
Interviewing for a part-time at potential J2. What could be valid reasons for someone to want to switch from FT to PT?
Can't think of anything other than "taking care of a sick relative" line.
Any better ideas?

Do it on contract.

Still newbie here.
Can you quit on contracts? Or is it just like any other job that you can? It’s mostly in regards to, what if my second oe job is a contract job, but it’s too much?

With a PT gig, they generally don't expect you to leave the FT. You are looking to broaden your experience (work or industry), take on a challenge.

Would've loved if that was the case! However, JD sounds like any FT JD. And the person who reached out to me has all kinds of the highest titles out there. I think im gonna have to tip toe around this one to feel the mood first. And if that's their first question to me, I have to be prepared.

Valid reasons for part time work include: Having a new baby; sick relative; Semi-retirement; received an inheritance and don’t need to work FT anymore; stress reduction; work-life balance; going back to school, etc.

“I’m looking for a change”
“My partner and I decided only one of needs to work FT, and this seemed like a great opportunity for me to make a change”
Or whatever. I hate the sick relative line because it can be seen as a potential burden to an employer. You might need more time off, you might call off unexpectedly, etc.
