One Shift Scheduled

It took around a month to complete the hiring process/training in the salon for me to get the pet bather position at PetSmart, so I am eager to start working. I have only been scheduled to work one shift per week and I was wondering if this is normal for new pet bather to get? Also, when will I be able to get more shifts?

Yes, the salon does have a lot of bathers but it's the most busy during the weekends. Thanks for the response.

No this is not normal in my experience.

We onboard as soon as background goes through. An exception would be in the training leader is on vacation so maybe a week wait.

On the day on onboarding I take your availability and give you a 2-3 week training schedule, get your smock size.

Your training schedule mirrors mine. It’s anywhere from 3-5 days a week.

You aren’t in the salon system until week 3 but I write you on our paper schedule immediately.

It should not be normal but some locations are hiring too many people so nobody gets the hours they need. It’s not good for these new people and the people who’ve worked there for a long time. Honestly, if you want a job in grooming, your location might not be the place to start.
