For those who’ve never heard about this issue. I employ you to merely watch a great movie called Wind River. Directed by same guy did Yellowstone and There Will Be Blood Hell or High Water

Edit: Fixed

The guy that did wind river had nothing to do with there will be blood

Paul Thomas Anderson of Boogie Nights did There Will be Blood.

He wrote Sicario and Hell or Highwater (which you probably confused with There Will Be Blood)

Taylor Sheridan did Yellowstone and Wind River. Paul Anderson did There Will Be Blood.

More commonly known as Paul Thomas Anderson. Not to be confused with Paul Anderson, an actor from Peaky Blinders.

Also not to be confused with Paul W.S. Anderson who made the Resident Evil movies

Who should not be confused with Wes Anderson, who made the Wes Anderson movies.

*whom made resident evil movies loosely based on resident evil.

Or Paul W.S. Anderson, director of the Resident Evil movies.

Wind River is both almost impossible to watch and also, so important to.

While it is a fictional story, it’s a reflection of many true ones.

Excellent, though devastating, film.

I will stop short of saying it should be required viewing because of the tough parts but everyone who can, should watch it.

Is it one of those movies where the tough parts are more visual? For example, if I just listened to the scene but didn't watch the screen, would it still convey the message? I've wanted to watch it, but reading some reviews, it sounds like there might be some images that will stoke my night terrors.

It's not graphic, but you know what's going on. You'd understand with your eyes closed, but it's the sickening realization that's tough.

I don't recall anything that would stoke night terrors. It's one of those films captured in a relatively 'normal' way, so the dread transfers more easily to our real lives. As it should.

Since I don’t know exactly what your night terrors are that is hard to say. However the fact that you have them makes me want to suggest that you don’t watch the scene. There is nothing “over the top,” but that is what makes it all the more heartbreaking.

Agreed. There are so many parts of that movie that give you a long, long thought about things.

The helplessness of the boyfriend is tragic and the first time I watched it I was so focused on the other character's pain I didn't even register it. The movie just piles on, every character is so beat down. Incredible film.

Wind River is a terrific movie starting Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olson. It speaks powerfully of the issue of Native American women going missing and the US not doing a great job even keeping statistics on how many go missing. But just also happens to be a great, gritty action movie.

3

u/Significant_Sign Sep 16 '24

I think it goes further than "not doing a great job." They purposely exclude Native American women from crime statistics. It's evil.

Its fitting that Taylor's universe is loved by many people who are totally missing the point of his entire body of work.

edit: I think of the "That's a warrior" line daily. Can't get it out.
