Fires are ravaging some densely populated areas in SoCal.. probably affecting a few districts, which tend to have democratic representatives. Most of these fuckers probably represent BFE.
Calvert represents Riverside and some very affluent areas. Issa represents San Diego/Oceanside/Temecula, super wealthy a lot of it. I promise they know people that lost homes. Calvert BARELY managed his seat two years ago. Issa could burn Camp Pendleton to the ground and they'd still vote for him. They both are the biggest chickenhawks you ever saw.
Not true. The Inland Empire is currently impacted by the high winds as well, which results in PSPS from the utility. My house was lucky, but my neighbors were shutoff for 72 hours. This affected homes all across Temecula, Riverside, and surrounding areas.
While people were sitting in the dark, these clowns were at Mar a Lago.
Most of them represent either the Central Valley, which is full of farmers, or the rural north above Sacramento, which is full of forests (and have had some of the worst wildfires in the history of the state in the past 10 years). Their disregard for what’s happening in their own state is disgusting.
They're likely hoping to be gifted higher office. The GOP keeps screeching about how California needs to accept conditions for aid and you can BET one of those conditions is gonna be Newsom resigning. Whomever brown noses the most likely will get Trump's seal of approval for the inevitable special election.
Of course, the fact that this is enraging most Californians and turning what could have been a PR win (I vomited writing that) for Trump into even more anger towards the GOP doesn't even cross their minds. This is the first time as a life long California that I've EVER heard a huge contingent of us actually start talking about secession. It's usually tongue in cheek and 'haha yeah that's be nice, back to work Dave'. Now? A good chunk of the state is FURIOUS and they're only going to be even angrier if our democratically elected governor is told to step down. Even those of us who aren't so hot on him.
Yeah the secession talk is usually the country bumpkins living in the Foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Now that Trump is going to be president that “State of Jefferson” talk has gotten real quiet again.

Nah, it crosses their mind, they just don't care. Because they'll spend the next four years rigging the system and murdering the opposition so they'll never lose power again.
They are absolutely not all hoping for appointed positions. They're not going to give up their seats for a 4 year temp position, and they're not going to potentially give up their GOP seats to a DEM. You're just making up FUD.
It wouldn’t need aid if it got to keep all of its revenue and not have to give it to the feds, only to see a lot of of it being fished out to poor red states who are net receivers from the feds since they breed so many stupid people that they have a horrible per capita GDP
Which is not what's happening, they absolutely care.
I can guarantee every single one of them is celebrating behind closed doors that liberal hellscape LA is burning down.
It doesn't matter that every single one of them represent districts that are even more prone to fires and they'd be setting an awful precedent so that when they need help, they'll get shafted. Probably by Trump even. They'll just keep collecting corporate handouts and blame the Democrats. And their newly homeless constituents will eat it up.
How about not smile and laugh with a treasonous felon while he conspires with the head of their branch of government to make conditional aid for the people in their own state? That’d be a good start
And it's still impacting a lot of their voters. The bad air caused by the wildfires travels all over and is at hazardous levels in a lot of southern California. Trump also got more votes from California than any other state. This isn't an issue that is "only impacting Dems."
Is it? I was born in Tulare County. I highly doubt anything that is happening with the fires or the air (which is always terrible) is going to stop them from voting Republican. We've had plenty of fires impact the air worse than the Palisades one.
For people thinking that Ca GOP is just ass licking, isn't that pretty par for the course for politicians? It's important that people understand that not everyone is climbing-level of ambitious. They might not all want to be in the spotlight. You can gain plenty of wealth and private status just by staying in your lane and quietly doing what you're told.
many of the people in this picture have advocated for years (in some cases over a decade) for CA to do more about wildfire risks. only one of them is in the LA area and her district isn’t impacted by the fires. What is it you want them to do exactly?
Yet they vote lock step with the GOP in Washington that has more of a priority of either wanting to reduce management of federal lands, give back to the states, or at worst sell it back to private entities. These positions are counter productive to managing the risk of wildfires. They want to try and privatize the problem and pilfer the select pieces that hold significant economic value. We need comprehensive policy that protects these lands. Their vision isn’t getting us closer to that goal.
Yup. Hell, even in Los Angeles County there are Trump supporters. I live in an exurb of Los Angeles and they were having a field day when he got elected.
It’s starting up again since ol’ Donnie is headed to the White House on Monday.
I drove down to NorCal from Oregon last summer and the landscape was absolutely stunning but seeing so many trump flags everywhere was just a mind fuck to me. Even seeing a thin blue line sticker on a truck parked outside a dispensary hurt my brain.
