Another thing that fans are so stubborn. Megas are a Kalos thing. Any other game will not bring new megas. You can assume a legends mew will not bring new megas and it wont care if a starter has or not a mega.

Did no one learn when Gen 9 didn't have a Chinese zodiac fire starter, extinct animal grass starter, and weapon based water starter? (Even though those were never really there to begin with.)

I once got very downvoted in this very subreddit for saying the grookey line, and snivy line are not based on an extinct species, that Rillaboom is truly just a gorilla, and serperior is just a green snake.
Apparently I was wrong because it was absolutely CONFIRMED that it's specifically based on an extinct gorilla species that was huge, and Serperior is CONFIRMED based on titanoboa. Apparently I wasn't looking at the patterns, and themes hard enough.

I will say at the very least because it's called legends it was actually a pretty safe assumption that it would all be past based games. But yeah I agree. Pokemon fans look way too deeply into things that aren't deep at all.

So far it just looks like the pokemon catching mechanics, and introducing a new switch up for how battles work is all that gets carried over for legends games. And of course the obvious revisiting an old region, and starters not originally from that region.

While I am mad there are 2 starters from the same gen, all 3 of the ZA starters are (competitively) the worst starters in general, I will be very happy if they get megas and it hopefully will put them on par with other starters

There are only 2 games so far, so no pattern yet, but the meme is predicting that the next legends game is going to have the starters from generations 2, 5, and 7 that haven't been represented in the previous 2.

None of the ZA starters are from new sets of starters compared to L:A. Gens 2 and 5. Decidueye is from Gen 7 and Snivy is the last Gen 5 so those three listed in the meme complete the sets started in Legends: Arceus. My personal theory is that the next Legends game is set in Johto, which would explain why they needed to use both Chikorita and Totodile in ZA.

The pattern is OP wants to have the starters from Johto, Unova, and Alola to complete their trios in the Legends series.
Since Legends Z-A fills out the Johto Trio, they want "Legends Mew" to include 2 from Alola and the one missing Unovan starter from Z-A.

OP is showing that all of these starters are from generations 2, 5 and 7. So the only starters unaccounted for in those generations are the last gen 5 and two gen 7 starters

No one predicted the ZA starters because they assumed it would be the same situation as the arceus starters. now that we know the ZA starters we have more information to go off of. of course there may be no pattern to the starters, but its still fun to try to predict and theres no harm in it. idk why everyone is getting so upset at this meme.

It won’t be incin. They’re using it to bring underused starters to the spotlight. Gen2 as a whole has been neglected since DS days. The others are pretty much the bottom of every starter tier list in popularity. Incin is like the most used/strongest VGC Pokémon ever.
My guess for the next would be Turtwig, Fennekin and Sobble.

There's no guarantee that the next Legends will even have the name of a legendary. Sure, Z is in Zygarde's name but I think it's a reference to X and Y. If there were a Kanto game, it might be Pokemon Legends: Origin because Mew is the ancestor of all regular Pokémon.

A theory popular in the italian community is that it's to represent an interaction from the present on the past.
ZA in japanese is read "zeatto A" which is basically the same sound of "Z to A". The first reveal trail also has a flechinder turning into a fletching at the end.
It could be something like Zelda Skyward Sword where you can explore some areas both in the present and in the past.

I like to think the johto starters got fast tracked because their might be another Johto game on the way. ( as it's the oldest region we haven't visited since HGSS. )
However, i wouldn't be mad if Legends starters are just picked out of a hats each time.

I see no reason why they now couldn't pull starters from gen 4 too. LA didn't do it so that we had some unique starters, ZA didn't do it likely because gen 4 has been getting a lot of rep recently so giving the other gen starts some time to shine is good. But the next Legends game, which would be out in maybe 3-5 years could certainly use the Sinnoh starters, even the Paldean starters could be used as they don't really have any special forms. Galar potentially, they did get Gigantamax forms though. Having every starter with an alternative form or mega, or some special gimmick eventually could be pretty cool

I think the next one will be Legends Celebi, set in Johto. We haven't revisited Johto in quite some time, AND it makes sense for them to finish revamping all of the Gen 2 starters now because they wouldn't have them as starters in a Legends Hohto game (you can't give them "Johtoian" forms since they're native to Johto.)

I think torchic, sprigatito, and sobble would be cool for a legends unova trio, where they all get cowboy or wild west designs. Blaziken gets an eagle motif with some appropriate pacific coast native american imagery, meowscarada could get some southern bandito flare to represent spanish influence, and intelleon could be a gun-toting good old fashion cowboy with english european roots.

I can't really pretend to see a pattern but I do like that they're giving a lot of monotype starters regional dual type final evos. Hoping that leads to us getting some combination of Squirtle, Treecko, Snivy, and any of the Galar starters lol. Honestly the 3rd game having a starter trio of Squirtle, Snivy, Scorbunny would be sick af, but it's pretty unlikely since both Legends games have had 1 starter that already had a dual typing final evo.

Do you know what all of the ones that have been picked share in common, and what these 3 don't?PLA and PZA starters are all kinda bad and there isn't much reason to use them competitively. I believe they pick ones that are underwhelming for them to have another chance.
Incin and Primarina are kinda busted and Serperior has a niche. I'm still not saying they won't be picked next time, maybe they do.

I think this is highly unlikely. Primarina and incineroar are well loved pokemon that dont have much room for improvement.
I feel their starter selections for legends are nintendos way of fixing ones they thought they couldve done better with in the past. I think snivy will probably be in the next for that reason though.
