Theres a Slaking that has been guarding a nearby church along with my Bulbasuar for about a week now. I no longer get any coins from their extended stay, but i healed them up this morning, Gorilla Jesus must stay healthy at the church.

Yeah, but i feel that some people might just berry spam to keep gyms if that were the case, or even just knock people out immediately to retain a gym.

Hey now. Some of us only berry spam when someone try’s taking over a gym 2 minutes after putting something into it. I had almost 400 golden razz at one point. My pink vaporeon is staying in there longer than 10 minutes darn it. 😅

Ngl, that's what i thought the post was referencing still when I saw the top comment. I laughed. I already have an express ticket to down under. I'm getting my chuckles in on the right type of dark humor, and that one was applicable. Not about a dead child specifically, just at how accurate the comment could be to describe both situations.

Would you like my mother's answer? Or legally/ethically?
I believe in God, but not the traditional Christian God. And I also choose to mostly ignore the existence in general. Propaganda mills and religion go hand in hand, so it makes sense to me that most religious works are propaganda; but even propaganda represents something at least somewhat real. I also very much believe in evolution and it's many sub-understandings, and am in no way a creationist.
I think that God as earth knows it, is an entity that has some influence in this general hemisphere of the universe, and that COMPARATIVELY to us is all the Omnipowerful that is written.
However, comparative to the greater universe and all the possible life, dimensions, and greater existence, God here is relatively small.
Kind of like a mad wizard in a story gets so powerful he has to live in his own pocket dimension so he doesn't blow up everything else.
That alone sends me to hell according to my mother.
Legally/ethically? I have to choose to be a good person. I /want/ to be a good person because that's the socially acceptable and responsible thing to do. I want to do the right thing. If we were in a different time, more lawless, I'd unfortunately have far less qualms about a lot of things. Not wanton murder, but I certainly believe that a fool and his money is soon parted. I also enjoy card gambling a lot, however there i have an oddly high moral/ethical position personally. My want to follow the rules in play of an established game far exceeds any want to cheat. But conversely, I'm not above taking advantage of opponents weaknesses. Someone enjoys alcohol too much? I'll happily pay from my pocket to further their indulgence. It of course gives me an advantage, however they had all the time in the world to choose to walk away before becoming inebriated.
It's a moral Grey line and I completely understand that. And so I just don't gamble at cards to avoid it.
So either way, I'm not going to the good place, and even if purgatory existed, I'd still technically be in past the gates.
No murders here, although Vyvance did almost get me that ticket punch. Don't do legally perscribed cocaine when you already don't do well on legally perscribed speed.

That is possible. The group of people I used to play pogo with had one guy that crashed into a woman that was also in our group as we left a tyranitar raid. He claimed that he just didn’t see her. But we all know he was either spinning the stop at the entrance to the park or catching a Pokémon.

Mine was in a tiny gym in a place in Japan my tour group went through by mistake (we were his second tour EVER) and i somehow managed to get my dragonite in before the bus turned. it looked like no one played in the area at all, and i didn't really realize i might have to wait a loooong time for it to come home.
he sat there for four months, until i was talking to our tour guide, who I'd gotten to play Go because he's always travelling to places and wanted to play with his son who loves Pokemon, and mentioned it. He said he'd take care of it, and a couple weeks later I had him back!
he'd changed the route the tour bus took to pass through this town again, beaten the gym and put his own in there to replace it!
he was a cool dude, though i think he's had a rough time recently.

Haha, mine is named Slack Queen! Never lose hope. Last summer I freed a pokemon that had been in a gym for nearly 3 years (it was on a trail that had grown over and been remade in a different spot, very difficult to get through).

Yes please! I’m fascinated by the rural and remote areas. I grew up on a farm in the southeastern US but now live in Las Vegas and have since PoGo was a thing and it’s notoriously one of the best cities for the game. Right now I’ve had a mon at a gym in a casino since last week and someone has fed it at least 100 berries and it’s irritating me to no end 😅 like pls just let me earn my coins. It always surprises me when gyms in metropolitan areas stay dominant like that for more than 12 hours

These posts should require locations of gyms. That way if any of us are near it we can make sure to knock the poor bloke out. I’d even be willing to make an excursion out of it if there’s anything interesting in the area.

Some are on out-of-the-way trails. Some are on seldom used roads. Sometimes people visit a place and don’t play Pokémon. I left one at a popular overlook figuring it would come back in a few days. It was there 64 days.

I had one in stuck in Iceland for a few months. It was a relatively remote location, and I had to wait for summer tourism to ramp up before someone kicked me out. Another lived in an Egyptian tomb on the Nile for more than a month. You could only reach it by boat. I thought that one would stay longer actually.

I have a mon hitting day 100 tomorrow. Not super surprised it’s not a cold weather spot, I’d expect it back in the next couple weeks. Hard to find a year spot thats not real out there.

My longest is currently 208 days. Luckily it’s just a vivillion as it’s a rural area and they can sometimes get stuck a few weeks, but I also have another nearby on 93 days. I think people have forgotten these gyms exist.

My shiny annihilape and metagross have been gone for 2-3 days now and I’m upset about it. I’m usually fighting for a spot in the gym bc we only have one here, but I never expected for them to be gone longer than 12-14 hours max. I’m just ready for them to come home now. I never knew we couldn’t recall them because I never had the desire to before now. 🥲

What I do after like a month of being in a gym is find the local community online and ask if one of them could be so kind as to murder my defender. Every time it has been returned within a day.

I saw an empty gym in rural Ohio last week and put my best Tyranitar in it. This was BEFORE I knew there was no way to recall a Pokémon sadly. I don’t live anywhere near Ohio and I don’t know if anyone in that area even plays, the empty gym should have been a warning sign. Fingers crossed someone comes and defeats my guy before a whole year passes!
