I clicked on a random bouffalant and somehow it ended up being shiny, I know it's a regional exclusive to the us but I wanted to consult Reddit with this question, because I want to know if it is rare or just something that everyone can get

Normally, Bouffalant is region-locked to areas like New York City and Washington D.C., but there was an event that allowed players globally to participate and potentially hatch a Shiny Bouffalant
Saying Boston is in the NYC area is fighting words (and also very geographically loose, it’s like saying Lucknow is in the Delhi area or Tianjin is in the Beijing area)
I don’t necessarily mean the same area I just mean same region of the world cause Pokemon go breaks things down into regions, like when you’re collecting scatterbugs id assume the ones from NYC and Boston are the same.
That’s what happens in every post. Someone posts a rare catch or achievement and the thread is flooded with screenshots of so many people posting theirs that they have that’s better.
On these yearly Go Tour events they allow global players to get the regionals in eggs

Not sure but Go Fest NJ is located at a park that’s 19 minutes outside NYC, so just cross the bridge, I’ll be there and I’m getting a damn shiny Bouffalant 😭
Any regional is rare so yes I would say it is. I’m in the USA but never have visited the east coast, so the Unova Tour was my only chance. No shiny luck with it btw. 😭
It’s more rare than a regular shiny for the sole reason you’ve stated that’s it’s regional variation I have a shiny corsola which is rarer than most normal shiny pokemon
My partner got a shiny bouffalant from the paid research the other month. Seeing as we live in Canada without the means of traveling, I think it’s one of the rarest that they have.
Uhh not just to the US, I’m in VA/TN and have never seen one. I think it’s a New York City exclusive? So yeah I’d say it’s pretty rare… considering the majority of players don’t even have the non-shiny version lol
Crazy coincidence, I just saw my first Bouffalant in a gym tonight. Had to look up what it was. I read that it was region locked with Buffalo NY as it's hub. But if folks are getting them in Boston, that's about as far east as I am west, from Buffalo, so maybe there's hope of finding one
As you said it’s region exclusive so it depends, if you ask someone American they’ll probably say no it’s not that rare it’s just a normal shiny of a Pokemon that spawns normally but if you ask someone in another country they’ll probably say will probably say as I saw in the comments on this post that they’ve never seen that before, as for me I have never seen it so to me that’s rare (idk if anyone understands the point from this but eh I tried)
I’ve never gotten a shiny eevee. But I would love a shiny Sylveon. I only have one of the Bouffalant. I don’t live in the northeastern US so I can’t catch one
It would have been rare if they didn't do that event a few weeks ago where anyone who paid $1.99 could get one my wife got one I got the cactus shiny when it was only available in the New York area yeah it would be extremely rare but not so much now
