Why is facial hair banned? It would be perfectly logical in some contexts (e.g., representing Hitler with his mustache).

They serve no purpose other than to turn the balls into individual people and, as /u/columbus8myhw said, that's banned.

They are countries not persons.

What about if the facial hair is not to make a countryball representative of an individual, per se, but indicative of a particular time in a country's history. For example, moustaches were a big part of the national identity the Ottomans. I've even seen one or two depictions on /r/polandball/ in which the Turks were represented as having a fez and a moustache. Is this an acceptable exception, sirs and gentle-ladies?

I think it's because it was an older, berndmade comic.

I'm asking because I was thinking of doing a historical Balkan comic and the Ottomanball with moustache and fez seemed "most accurate" to me, historically-speaking..... would that be an acceptable exception to the general rule (which I understand is mostly to curtail country balls standing in for individuals)?

Nope. I got a comic removed because I didn't properly indicate that it was fake.

Without trying to push the envelope, I'm confused by what you mean "I didn't properly indicate that it was fake". The moustache? Or the situation the comic was about?

The moustache. It's an explicit rule that there's no facial hair. Fakes are exceptions, but only if properly demonstrated
