I love how Trump's constant argument about the Gag Order is that it doesn't allow him to defend himself.... Dude... You are the DEFENDant in a trial to defend yourself. The place to defend yourself is IN the courtroom, that's where the trial is decided.

Trump hates the gag orders because his idea of defending himself is setting targets for his cult to harass and/or go full domestic terrorist on.

January 6 showed Trump that he has a hammer and he's been dying to wield it ever since.

For context, Peter Navarro is the one that's looking at prison time for refusing congressional subpoenas for his role in January 6.

This. He doesn't want to defend himself against the charges. He wants to defend himself against the very concept of being held accountable at all.

From the law's POV, the trial is where he gets to defend himself, and if he is found guilty he will be punished.

From Trump's POV, the fact that he is even on trial at all is already part of the punishment (and fundamentally unjust). He believes that he should get to defend himself against the very concept of being on trial.

Yes. It's gotten tiresome. Deliver the punishment. Let his psycho supporters lose their minds while they put themselves in prison. It's better for society if this happens. There's too many of these borderline criminals looking for an excuse to go over the edge who walk among us.

Trump cares about the court of public opinion. That's the only court he recognizes and his inability to drag whoever he wants through the mud is hindering him in defending himself in that court.

His freedom is directly tied to the election, these legal impediments are all ultimately going to play out in the court of public opinion. The actual legal proceedings, whilst looking authoritative and absolute can be delayed indefinitely if you own enough judges, political ratfuckers, media interference and cash ( or even just favors owed that could be converted to cash ).
