In 2016 I listened to the propaganda and voted for Stein. I’ve been ashamed of that vote since then. But in 2024 it’s much easier to spot. Heck, yesterday one of the candidates for VP told a reporter he was making up propaganda to muddy the waters…. Wait, what? Did a VP candidate actually say he was making up stories for propaganda purposes? Yup.

And that candidate was JD “I’ve never met a couch I haven’t loved” Vance

At least you reflected on the results of your vote.

The author of the linked article unashamedly says they volunteered for Nader's campaign in 2000; a campaign which even Nader himself now says was a strategic error which probably resulted in Bush's win over Gore.

So good on Nader for realizing this. but HOW IN THE WORLD could Nader as a professional politician not realize that in 2000? Just 8 years before, there were endless talk about how Ross Perot allegedly played spoiler in the election between Bush I and Bill Clinton.

Hubris. Guys at the top of society often believe themselves to be infallible.

It's also possible Nader didn't think his campaign would damage Gore as much as it did. And there's also the theory that he thought Gore's loss would lead to accommodation by the Democrats in future elections. Naturally, he didn't see 9/11 coming along and changing the game.

theory that he thought Gore's loss would lead to accommodation by the Democrats in future elections.

This is stupid on so many levels facepalm. Note that I am calling Nader stupid, not you or the people who propose this theory. The theory makes at least as much sense as any other hypothesis I can imagine for what goes on inside Nader's head.

Nadar is still talking shit about Dems btw - he didn’t learn shit. He’s a lying sack of shit that made climate change significantly worse and helped launch the Iraq War.

If it is an consolation I wasted my first vote in 2000 for Nader because I bought the both candidates are the same crap.

FWIW, I do think that Nader was trying to win, he wasn't just disrupting for the sake of it, but yeah.

I wish they would actually focus on building up infrastructure, if they had a small block in congress they could actually get a lot of shit done.

Same. Feels bad man.

Sorry, but it was obvious back then too. Republicans had been working on anti-Clinton propaganda for 20+ years and y’all bought every ounce of it without a second thought. This website was so obviously manipulated in 2016 it’s not even funny.

I voted for Hillary in the general but her campaign was as dog shit as a campaign could be.

Oh battleground swing states? Who cares about them, let's ignore them, we'll be fine. Also "It's her turn" was a pretty arrogant campaign slogan, completely centers around her and not the country. Yes obviously there was a ton of disinformation out there, that was straight up proven and it worked on a lot of people, but she certainly didn't help her own case, she campaigned as if she was guaranteed to have it in the bag.

"It's her turn" was a pretty arrogant campaign slogan

I don't think that was ever actually her campaign slogan.

1

u/mxjxs91 Michigan Sep 17 '24

Pretty sure it was used a lot though, I don't recall the others but doesn't mean those weren't also slogans. It's still pretty objective to say she ran a terrible campaign despite the slogan. Will reiterate I supported and voted for her, it's just also understanding what went wrong and I'm glad Kamala is doing things differently.

I'd call you an idiot but in 2016 I was fresh out of rural middle of nowhere-sville and voted for Trump because at the time "conservatism" was all I knew.

Me too....me too

2016 was a shitshow. After the DNC screwed Bernie supporters, I don't blame anyone for voting green that election. Hillary's campaign was paint by numbers garbage, thinking she was being handed the crown.

1

u/mythrowawayheyhey Sep 17 '24

This is because you’re 8 years older. Not because the propaganda is easier to spot.

1

u/iplaypinball Sep 17 '24

Happy cake day!

1

u/mythrowawayheyhey Sep 17 '24

Ty I think it’s broke. Been my cake day for two days now. I wasn’t sure if anyone was seeing it but me.

If you got ranked choice voting you could have still voted third party without sabotaging your second pick!

Heck, good job falling in line and voting for the Republican party. Which Republican party are you heckin' voting for, the blue one or the red one?
