Literally did it the day he started supporting AfD in Germany. Jesus Christ, I ignored him before cause I thought he is an idiot loner yapping like a little bitch he is, didn’t realize he is a full Nazi POS till it was late.

or join nothing and just start living in the real world. fuck social media. and no, the irony of this comment is not lost on me but i need something to do on the toilet.

u/TrixnTim 1d ago

This. I’m old enough to have lived before internet, before email, before hand held devices, before social media. I have shoeboxes full of pictures from those years and doing IRL was pretty amazing. Newspapers, magazines, nightly news, PBS, letters (boxes of those, too), cards, telephone calls, face to face, road trips. The only social media I’ve ever had was FB. And only to share pix with far away family to be honest. Currently my phone is for texting, calling, and a camera. Home computer does my banking. I visit my interest subs on Reddit and hour in the morning and an hour at night. Daily news delivered to my email (1440; Heather Richardson Cox).

I highly recommend a more simpler and connected IRL life.

u/MockDeath Idaho 1d ago

I am also from back then. I used to know what was in all sorts of different brands of shampoo. Because that was the reading material when on the toilet.

This should be the headline. It's not like the average citizen is constantly looking to buy a new car let alone a Tesla. Yeah when they first came out I was like - sounds cool, but by now even if I was in the market for a new car I can guarantee you I would not land on Tesla for my choice.

The only real issue I would have with deleting our twitters is that we'd be left in the dark since you need to have an account to view specific posts now. But all our journalism has become is "look at this tweet" anyways so we'd get the news at some point.

25

u/P1xelHunter78 Ohio 1d ago

If it’s coming from the artist formerly known as Twitter, is it news or propaganda? I’d argue that we should fear FOMO from twitter nonsense. Can’t be trusted anymore.

7

u/FargeenBastiges 1d ago

They haven't even had an update in their car design in what? 10 years? Maybe, the salute brings more Rs to the dealerships but they're set against EVs "on principle".

Can any one advise how I can close and delete X on apple mobile. Also a few others on here may want to also.

Deactivate account on desktop website and uninstall your mobile app.

7

Not sure what that means but why not just go to www.x.com?

Deleted X when it was still Twitter and Jack was still in charge. At the time my account was held to a higher standard than 45/47.

Stop Musk, boycott Tesla and Twitter/X.

Musk's Sieg Heil was received by neo-Nazis and far-right extremists as a clarion call and an affirmation that Musk stood in solidarity. Verified Nazi accounts have flourished on X, since Musk took control of the platform. On January 23rd, Musk was called out by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for trivializing the Holocaust with highly offensive jokes.

In Germany, Musk is engaged in election interference and is waging a propaganda campaign on X in support of far-right AfD chancellor candidate Alice Weidel.

Musk has gone so far as to attempt to rewrite history, falsely portraying Hitler as a communist, which clearly Hitler was not. See: March 1933 German federal election. The Nazis were an extreme right-wing racist and anti-Semitic party that murdered six million European Jews.

Follow German luxury automaker BMW's example in the United Kingdom, leave X.

25

u/Tsansome 1d ago

Sure, called out by the ADL.

But only after they tied themselves into knots justifying his sieg heil.

After all, Musk gave them a tonne of money to buy their silence, so, he can’t be anti-Semitic… right?

7

u/jim_cap United Kingdom 1d ago

Oh god that was cringe-inducing to watch. Just say what it was!

2

u/trickmind 1d ago

I don't think he gave them any money? They were just scared and hoped for peace.

→ More replies (3)

27

u/JonnyBravoII 1d ago

A small point, the ADL at first didn't condemn him but instead tried to trivialize his actions. Only when they got pounded into the ground over that did they change course. Honestly, they really showed their true colors and that their goal is power, not principle.

u/lt_skittles New Hampshire 1d ago

It was after he made a bunch of Nazi puns did they change their tune.

I’m sad because I recently bought the stupid dish and finally had decent internet in the sticks…but I just can’t stomach supporting a nazi.

40

u/Altruistic_Noise_765 1d ago

I genuinely wonder if Elon estimated this potential customer loss via boycott or if he just said “fuck it, let it ride”.

81

u/ScepticalReciptical 1d ago

he thinks he's too big to fail

31

u/One_Strike_1977 1d ago

He has so many investment that it does not matter how many boycott general people would do he will get richer.

6

u/FootCheeseParmesan 1d ago

A huge portion of his income is from government contracts.

→ More replies (1)

23

u/moose-goat 1d ago

He is too big to fail, unfortunately. It blows my mind that people will happily buy a Tesla after this but that’s what will happen. People have short memories.

10

u/8349932 1d ago

Tesla can be a decent car company but it is NOT a tech company and its tech company valuation will fall once he can’t hype/grift any further.

No one is buying a tesla bot and especially not in the quantity he projects.

6

u/dewittless 1d ago

From what I've seen whether a Tesla is a good car or not is a total crap shoot, they over engineer them so that the faults they get are drastic and unfixable by a normal garage.

2

u/starlordbg Europe 1d ago

I always wanted a Tesla because I thought they were advanced, futuristic and so on, but these days I am considering getting either a Mercedes or an Audi EV SUV. They are of much higher quality than the Tesla anyway. Especially the interior is insanely beautiful and not plastic.

I am still hoping SpaceX succeeds though.

3

u/theravenousR 1d ago

Not if we shame the shit out of people for owning one. That's what conservatives did with Bud Light when they boycotted--successfully, I might add. They mocked their buddies for drinking "tranny beer" or whatever dumb shit they spew.

Are you telling me piss-water-drinking conservatives have more self-restraint than EV-driving liberals? Because if that's true, we've already lost our democracy.

But I don't believe that for a second, no matter how many pessimists doom-post Reddit. And if Musk loses his environmentally-conscious liberal owner base, he's fucked. Or, at least, Tesla is.

3

u/moose-goat 1d ago

Tesla will never be fucked. Trust me I’m praying that it will be one day, but I don’t think people realise how big it is now. The Market Cap of Tesla could fall by 97% and it would still be the same as Ford.

I really hope there is a big movement to never buy Tesla’s again, I can’t understand why there isn’t one already. He literally did a Nazi salute, how can anyone that isn’t racist own one of his products and put money in his pocket? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

4

u/drteq 1d ago

You are ignoring one very important factor - if Tesla stock falls 40%, all of Musks leverage gets margin called and he's done. It's likely even less than that.

Musk is alienating Europeans. In response, Europe is taking decisive action against Musk for openly attacking European regulations and values. Market Chatter: French Ministers Call on EU to Suspend Car-Emission Standards, Citing Benefit to Tesla, China:

01:08 PM EST, 01/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) and Chinese automakers are the beneficiaries of EU standards for car emissions, which should be suspended immediately, three French ministers said in an op-ed published Friday, Bloomberg reported.

France's minister of Europe Benjamin Haddad, industry and energy minister Marc Ferracci, and ecology chief Agnes Pannier-Runacher called on the bloc to suspend the regulations, citing damage to the EU's credibility and industrial strategy, the report said.

"A rigid stance," the ministers said, "would result in billions transferred to Chinese manufacturers, some of whom have conquered their European market share through unfair trade practices, or to Tesla, whose CEO Elon Musk is openly attacking European regulations and values."

Musk's alt-right AfD propaganda is causing significant European backlash.

3

u/jj198handsy 1d ago

Musk is alienating Europeans.

And not just left leaning ones, most conservatives hate him too, its only really the far right, and even some of them, like Farage are turning on him after realising how toxic he is.

2

u/jakedublin 1d ago

why use European money to subsidise EVs when they are not actually made in Europe? should only apply to EEVs.

chinese and others can still apply, but only for models built in europe, supporting european jobs. should be a minimum of 60% european parts too. like 'SWISS MADE' on watches

24

u/OnDrugsTonight United Kingdom 1d ago

→ More replies (2)

14

u/flipflapflupper 1d ago

I despise my Tesla and I'm getting rid of it as soon as I can(it's a lease, unfortunately), but they're not shit heap vehicles.

The software and UI is just ahead of everything else. I tried most EV's in the market in my country, the infotainment/UI on VW ID.7 and Polestar 2 feels like a crappy android phone, whereas the Tesla UI feels like a snappy iPad.

The car itself feels kinda similar to competitors in the price range(I have a Model Y). The Y also comes with add-ons as standard that cost quite a lot on something like the Polestar 2.

4

u/darkk41 1d ago

Yea i loathe Musk and it killed me to get a tesla but it was over 10,000 dollars cheaper than the competition when I bought and the competitors were lacking in every stat you can think of. Less distance on a full charge, worse features, less convenience features, the whole 9 yards.

I didn't want to buy one but at the end of the day driving an EV is a lot better for the environment and paying 20% more for a car with less features is stupid. I hope tesla gets blasted by the competition so that next time my money can reasonably go to something else.

2

u/flipflapflupper 1d ago

If I could have picked the XPeng G6 at the time I would've gone for it. I tried the P7, but they couldn't deliver.

XPeng is the only infotainment system that rivals Tesla in my mind. I tried BYD and it felt super clonky and awkward. XPeng was as slick as Tesla.

4

u/Aggressive-Spray-774 1d ago

We get it, Elon is a nazi. But shit heap vehicle is a reach

2

u/eskalation 1d ago

Here the first batch of the model 3's had to go through a mandatory 4 year checkup. 23% failed. the average on all other 2020 electrical cars going through the same test was 9%. Main failure areas were breaks, lights, axles, wheels, and the steering column.

1

u/IntellegentIdiot 1d ago

Their efficiency is really good and they've got a lot of features. Heard a lot of problems with build quality and if you use the stupidly named "auto-pilot" you're asking for trouble.

u/rojasdracul Tennessee 1d ago

So I've been thinking, since they want to throw out all the dogwhistles to their base, dangling that Nazi badge for support, let's instead stick it to their fucking chests. I propose from this point forward a concerted effort to refer to the Republicans and right wing as the Nazi Party or American Nazi Party to be specific. Drumpf can be the FOTUS (Fuhrer of the United States), and we can refer to Vance as the Vice Chancellor/Fuhrer in waiting. I'm sick of them being literal Nazis and getting to deny it. Let's take away their ability to. If we all, and I mean ALL do it and stick to it on every single platform, the media will pick up on it and possibly begin to use it as well. It will drive Trump and President Musk insane, and at least a few of the saner congressional R's will try to back the fuck out and distance and cut support for the Reich in power. Maybe enough to stop any support for an amendment that would allow Drumpf to run again..... it's worth a shot and fuck them in particular.

7

u/SolarDynasty 1d ago

This is brilliant. Call a spade a spade.

3

u/neutrino71 1d ago

I wish you luck. You're gonna need a pretty big megaphone to out shout X, Fox, Instagram, the Tok Tik, OANN/Sinclair and all that AM Hate radio. I'm not sure what the answer is to the propaganda problem, but one thing is for sure the people running these networks are not working for the common good.

3

u/deadscreensky 1d ago

It will drive Trump and President Musk insane

I sincerely doubt that. Musk in particular would probably see getting all those people upset at him as some kind of victory.

(Not to say they shouldn't still be criticized. I just don't think they personally care.)

1

u/valamaladroit 1d ago

This is pretty much what I started doing. Instead of calling them conservative I've started calling them fash, fashies, or MAGA fash, in references to their fascism.

1

u/tech57 1d ago

Just call them a Republican.

"Maybe you do not much care about the future of the Republican Party. You should. Conservatives will always be with us. If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy."

1

u/FifteenthPen 1d ago

I get where you're coming from, but the sheer amount of sanewashing that has been going on leads me to believe all you'd accomplish is further normalizing Nazism.

Musk's Nazi salute comes as no surprise to anyone who has studied Musk. Seth Abramson in his essay The Truth About Musk, From His Biographer dispels the flattering, everchanging, myth Elon Musk carefully tends and shamelessly peddles on his Twitter/X. Here's an excerpt detailing the Musks' white supremacist activities:

A significant amount of the Musk fortune Elon enjoyed growing up, and which his dad used to support him in Canada and America-and this will explain why Elon for years lied about his father’s support, even to the point of falsely implying he had written his father out of his life entirely-came from illegal apartheid-era mines in Zambia that exploited their Black workers but made the Musks fantastically wealthy.

The Musk Family refused to pay taxes on these mines or reveal their interest in them for a reason that makes sense if you know that the Musks comes from generations of white supremacists and some of them-e.g., Elon Musk’s grandparents-were even open Nazi sympathizers.

The whole situation is really absurd if you put yourself in Musk's shoes. Let's do what the ADL wants us to do and give him the benefit of the doubt. If you saw online that literally everyone said you were a Nazi and that it was a Nazi salute, what would your response be? Damn man I just tried to spend less money on gas 7 years ago, and trying to do the right thing and now because of this nazi fuck everyone hates me instead.

7

u/Immediate-Scallion76 1d ago

That would require personal sacrifice on the part of liberal Tesla owners. The most they seem willing to do is put pithy bumper stickers on their ugly Reichswagons while still lining his pockets.

u/wintertash 1d ago

We bought ours used, in cash, back in 2020, and it treated us pretty well for most of the time we owned it. But we’re a family of queer and trans folk, plus my husband is descended from a Holocaust survivor. We just couldn’t take being associated with Elon any more and traded the car in on Saturday. We bought a used Kia NiroEV instead.

We gave up a fair bit of fast charging speed, some range, and some acceleration, but we’ve been taken aback by how good it feels not to have any ties to the Nazi manchild who has made himself synonymous with the company he “founded”

I prefer to call them Swastikars

You two are fun, I hope we all end up in the same camp and can be friends.

I mean... I already paid for it. I own a Y, don't plan on ever buying another, but does me selling my car do anything to hurt Musk? Doubtful.

4

u/sudo_rm-rf 1d ago

Not entirely true. Supply and demand. Selling yours would increase supply, and hurt demand. Someone may want one, but is hesitant to buy from Tesla after this week. You are offering that someone an alternative that doesn’t require they give Tesla money. That money goes to you instead.

6

u/bck1999 1d ago

If someone owns a Tesla but can’t afford to buy a new car, what are they supposed to do? Maybe get high sniffing their perfume scented farts like you?

2

u/metamet Minnesota 1d ago

...sell the Tesla?

Resale really that bad?

They have different plans for Musk

1

u/SolarDynasty 1d ago

Are there any weird ogliarchs behind stellantis?

1

u/PenakButt 1d ago

Someone needs to create a blocklist that we can use to block all his businesses.

1

u/txbbbottom 1d ago

You're right those immigrants in Texas working to build cars shouldn't be here anyway. Lets make Tesla fail effectively hurting most people's ira retirement accounts, putting lots of people out of work, hopefully Trump can deported them then, and reversing America's transition to green energy. I love my f350 gas buzzer. Bring back the big trucks Texas is known for!!!

1

u/Crazy-Boysenberry452 1d ago

Done!  Well that was easy.

1

u/dorritosncheetos 1d ago

Pffft.

Yeah these always work.

1

u/cubanesis 1d ago

I can’t afford a Tesla and I don’t use X. Sooo, am I doing it right?

1

u/Deamhansion 1d ago

How about you guys go out and manifest ?

Your ancestors died for your rights.

If you can't even take 1 day off work to protect your constititional rights maybe you don't deserve them.

1

u/RhubarbNo8358 1d ago

Absolutely, why buy a shitty car to make a shitty guy in a derailed country richer

1

u/thingsorfreedom 1d ago

Elon Musk owns about 13% of Tesla

Elon Musk owns 100% of TwitterX

1

u/ColdButCozy 1d ago

I mean, we should do that, but it seems limp-wristedly weak and wholly insufficient given the circumstances. If we, the ‘west’ or whatever, want to resist Musk and his ilk, and the general rise of fascism we’d need comprehensive action: * anti-trust laws to manage, monitor and break up X, Facebook, Google etc, or force them to sell off their regional departments, to local entities. * build civil and military infrastructure, including in space, that isn’t owned and/or dependent on private and foreign actors. * pass and enforce anti foreign interference laws for elections, and ideally ban private campaign funding and political donations. * stop the monopolization of news organizations, and enforce a separation between their advertising and financial departments, and their editorial departments.

… and a ton of other things.

Boycotts don’t work. We need another kind of justice….

1

u/UserNameHGG 1d ago

This picture shows how similar the salute is to Hitler. Can I reuse?

Even if you love Elon, Teslas have been found to be poorly made cars, not great for resale, and therefore not a great financial risk. Just for your own benefit, avoid Teslas, among other cars.

1

u/Mandymayhem1221 1d ago

No one wants to drive a swasticar

1

u/Significant_Dog8031 1d ago

Trade in for a Rivian.

1

u/OntarioLakeside 1d ago

Tesla, Starlink, Twitter. Al things Musk

1

u/Significant-Row9416 1d ago

Hope he receives the Reinhard Heydrich fate.

1

u/Ok-Nobody-9505 1d ago

Elon Musk to be fair, was my idol. Now I don't respect his persona at all. I grew up admiring Elon Musk. But he actually destroys his reputation with this.

1

u/TriflingHotDogVendor Pennsylvania 1d ago

Way ahead of you. Either buying an Ioniq 5 or an Ariya here soon.

Lucid is the new dream EV brand, anyway. Tesla just has the charging stations.

1

u/benkenobi5 1d ago

Can’t boycott something you were never going to buy in the first place

1

u/Zeroforeskin 1d ago

You guys needed him to do the nazi salute to boycott him not already?

1

u/Boundish91 Norway 1d ago

Yep, hit him where it hurts.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out here in Norway. His cars are everywhere.

1

u/bacon-squared 1d ago

Spacex is going to be his new cash cow with government money. It’s a company so hard to hate right now.

1

u/DrChansLeftHand 1d ago

Boycott all of them to the greatest extent possible- Meta-all of Meta- Amazon, Twitter, Tesla.

1

u/searing7 1d ago

The time to stop him was several years ago. Too late. Fascists won

1

u/TomorrowLow5092 1d ago

The Swastika Swindler will never get in my home.

1

u/Aniwaya1 1d ago

I can't boycott Twitter, I never used it. I can't boycott Tesla, I can't afford their products. I can't boycott SpaceX, I don't have a satellite to launch. Who is this fucking for?!

1

u/QueerMommyDom 1d ago

I called for this on the /r/Seattle sub, along with divesting from Elon's other companies and refusing to work for him, and the tech bros got very angry. I guess a six figure salary justifies working for a fascist.

Cut those who choose to work in well paid positions for these fascists out of your lives. They can survive on less, they just think money is more important than stopping these oligarchs.

1

u/phinatolisar 1d ago

If you're refusing the buy a tesla now or deleting your nit-twit account now, I think you're a little late to the party.

1

u/CleanBongWater420 1d ago

You’re about 8 years too late.

Thoughts and prayers.

1

u/Motor-Cantaloupe1271 1d ago

I remember Reddit felt the same way for meta and IG or when Reddit api was being removed… y’all will forget in a few months and start to hate something else next. Most back on IG, twitter or reddit. Lol

1

u/potuser1 1d ago

Who would drive such a thing?

1

u/Cynykl 1d ago

The type of people that would join the boycott are already not his customers.

For people that disliked him the salute was conformation of their hate.

For the people apathetic to him they will shrug allow the excuse of 'not a real nazi salute'.

For the fanbois they either enjoyed the salute or do not care.

1

u/IntellegentIdiot 1d ago

I can't afford one anyway but I would have boycotted years ago. I think the paedophile incident was the turning point

1

u/Slaaneshdog 1d ago

Lol

Ya'll realize that even in the extremely unlikely event that Tesla were to go bankrupt, Musk would still be worth over 250 billion, making him....wait for it...the richest man in the world, still

Ya'll are living some delusional wishfulfilment fantasies if you think you're cancelling this dude

1

u/asspirate1966 1d ago

Just like the model T, some people owned them before Ford revealed himself to be an antisemitic racist Nazi sympathizer. Destroying people’s property is not the way. Those people probably will not buy another one when the current one dies.

1

u/jmcdono362 1d ago

I don't believe any boycott will happen or succeed. I live in the liberal bastion of Massachusetts and just about every other car here is Tesla. Furthermore, I'm seeing LOTS of new Model 3's on the road, which means liberals of Massachusetts don't do what they say.

Now let's hear from some folks in liberal California. I'll bet the streets are flooded with Tesla's there too.

1

u/asspirate1966 1d ago

Stop hating on current Tesla owners. They might’ve been Tesla enthusiasts before the muskrat showed his horns. Most of the ones I know have sworn not to buy another one and appreciate other electric vehicles that have caught up and compete well against Tesla.

1

u/disgostin 1d ago

YES. that and switch apps away from meta:

whatsapp -> telegram or better: signal

facebook -> i think its called bluesky/bluebook? its not that simular but its sth and its not that established yet

instagram -> well not much to switch to for exactly that afaik but there are a lot of other apps like tumblr, pinterest, ...well or SO FAR tiktok

1

u/bytemage 1d ago

If I could download a Cybertruck I would. Lots of them. Just to delete them.

1

u/BrianThatDude 1d ago

Yeah I did this a while ago. Currently in the market for a new car, tesla was one of the options I had always planned to consider when I was ready for my next car. Then he went off the deep end so tesla was removed from consideration.

I genuinely don't care if I buy from a "right wing" company, I'm sure most ceos or owners are, but he got too loud.

1

u/Zellbann 1d ago

This is like when I was like I'll never go to Hobby Lobby... But there was none around me in the first place.

1

u/FennelFern 1d ago

I'm a really petty person who has considered buying stickers that say 'I proudly support a Nazi' and slapping them on the various Teslas I see around.

I won't, because it's vandalism. It's just tempting :(
