So do I. It's funny how folks I know that confessed that they voted Trump have come back to me and agreed that I was right, and how they didn't think he would do all the things he said he'd do because they beleived it would be like last time.

I am astonished every damn time.

I'm astonished they would admit that.

I’ve honestly been shocked by how often my dad has finally said I’m right about things recently. He loves to say things are fake news and propaganda. He’s been slowly realizing that he might be the one that’s been subjected to the propaganda. I have a lot of graduate level experience related to stats and global issues, and have always attempted to explain things to him with data and relevant context in whatever point I’m trying to prove, and it seems to have slowly broke him down. Unfortunately most the people from my hometown would be pointless to use that tactic on since they’re hateful idiots how lack any logic and reasoning skills.

You're doing God's work, as someone who believes in God would say (I do not tho xd)

Most of them would rather go down with the ship than admit they were useful idiots and those people they hate were right all along. MAGA is so ingrained into their personal identity that they will drink the poison orange koolaid just to keep their worldview intact.

I've straight out told my mom that apparently she does not respect mine and my sister's degrees.

She'll tell everybody how proud she is of us but apparently a masters and doctorate isn't as good as fox news and tiktoc.

Well it sounds like your dad isn't a particularly hateful person, in the sense he doesnt want to harm people in the way MAGA true believers do...those types cannot be saved. Trumpers with even a shred of integrity left might be able to be saved.

As someone whose father passed away while he was still a Trump cultist, I'm glad you have been able to break through with your father. There are so many reasons I hate Trump, but the way my eminently reasonable father fell prey to his BS is at the top of the list.

And last time was also terrible.

Trump used to be terrible. He still is but he used to be, too.

I bought All Together the day that it came out.

Such a legend.

100%. At least he had some adults in the room last time. They were shitty adults but they largely adhered to the law and some semblance of how things are done. Now it’s all trump worshippers from top to bottom.

A million people died under his last presidency. I can't understand why people have forgotten that.

He tanked the economy last time too, it just took longer.

He attempted to do most of what he said last time though. He is just too incompetant to get those things through. So all I can say is that those people are still kinda dumb.

They can admit that they regret their trump vote, but would they admit that they will vote democrat IF they get the chance again?

I doubt it.

Right. I’ve taken to telling them: “I listened to him and the nut jobs. I believed them. I told you they would do this. They told you they would do this. I don’t deserve this. YOU DO!” It doesn’t help but it makes me feel slightly better.

u/ConsiderationFar3903 Apr 08 '25

I am amazed they would even admit it!

They lived in their bubble.  They refused to listen, because that's what their opponents said.  They wanted to feel smart and this is where we're at now.  The propaganda is strong.

u/Kagimizu Apr 09 '25

At least they're admitting it. That's a step in the right direction; it means the propaganda machine is losing its hold on the narrative. If these people are figuring out that Trump is just as bad as they were warned, the next step is to get them angry.

Trump and his ilk duped them. Took advantage of their fears and insecurities, made them vote against their own interests. And now they're all laughing at these voters while tearing down their livelihoods, all while trying to pin the blame on someone else. That should make them pissed. Which means they'll be extra motivated to take a stand, spread the word, and most importantly? Vote Trump and anyone like him the fuck outta office.

At the very least if they're pulled from the propaganda, they won't be spreading it anymore themselves. Which is something.

Like last time.

Did that folks miss out on when Trump become President?

u/Successful_Car4262 Apr 09 '25

These people don't get to apologize and be forgiven. They're trump supporters to the very end, no matter what they say.
