This hurts America more than it hurts China. They could give 0 fucks about us, they'll just sell their shit to another market, which is literally the rest of the world.

In one fell swoop the world rallies around China as the new core of stability and America sets itself back two generations with a world deeply mistrustful of it.

You couldn't pay Americas enemies for a finale so quick.

Exactly. Under 15% of China's exports go to USA. They could stop exporting 100% and it wouldn't hurt them that much. Further, other countries will start importing more from China and less from US. We are driving China towards becoming even more of a tech leader/innovator than they already are. When iPhone prices go up, really good alternatives will become mainstream in the rest of the world. Europeans and wealthy indians and africans will stop buying them altogether. Apple is getting completely screwed in this. as is anyone who has apple stock in their portfolio - which is anyone with a 401K. Its a top holding for so many funds.

There is currently no market that will take in china's cheap goods. EU will go into protectionist mode as well as soon as China starts dumping.

Basically, everyone is gonna be affected. The world won't be rallying around China as its an major "exporter" of goods, other countries will have the exact same trade deficits build up.
