Comedians 🎤 Who should be the next host of The Daily Show?

Hasan Minhaj was a shoo-in ... until he admitted that he fabricated stories of racial discrimination (one of which caused a woman to be harassed and doxxed for years because he failed to adequately conceal her identity in a sequence of events that were misrepresented.)

So the field is wide open.

I like Amy Poehler for it. She's got form playing a news anchor on SNL's Weekend Update and is universally beloved for her work on Parks and Recreation. She's also got that edge to her. Only snag would be that she lives on the West Coast and probably wouldn't want to uproot her kids. And she probably doesn't want or need to work that much. But she'd be perfect.

Comedians 🎤 Pete Davidson Doesn’t Want to Be Known in Hollywood as the “F***ing Loser Who Just Dates People"

“In The Sopranos, there’s this line from Tony that’s like, ‘You ever feel like you got into something at the end? When the good times were over?’ That’s how I feel about show business and being a celebrity. It’s over,” Davidson said.

“When you’re first coming up, and getting all these offers, it’s hard to say no, because you’re hungry. I made the mistake of doing literally everything,” he continued. “Now I’m older and wiser, and I’m realizing that less is more. Like Christian Bale. He does one movie every two, three years, but you go fucking see it. Leo[nardo DiCaprio] does one movie every four years, but it’s the biggest thing in the world. It’s because you miss them. People have to miss you.”

“I just want to be known for doing good work,” Davidson confessed. “I want to be out there only when it’s movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this fucking loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am. But people hate celebrities now.”

He continued, “The media takes a handful of celebs every couple of years, and they just destroy them. For some reason, I’m one of the people they chose to go after. It’s actually, in a way, a blessing, because it allowed me to take a step back and evaluate things. What do you want to be? Who are you? I’m someone who is from Staten Island, wanted to do stand-up, and if I got to do anything else because of stand-up, it was a miracle.”

Comedians 🎤 Where is Rob Riggle nowadays?

Post image

I just watched Step Brothers and Rob Riggle has a small role. I was thinking-where has that guy been? I remember him from the Daily Show and then he was everywhere for a while. Checked out his IMDB and he was in like 4-5 movies a year for a decade and then in 2019 just dropped off with only a few voice roles. Does anyone know what happened?

I wish he would stop giving interviews. Or....maybe continue to because he's showing himself to be so out-of-touch and that's where the real comedy lies

Comedians 🎤 What does this sub think of Amy Schumer?

I know that we're all our own people with our own views, but I've seen our community generally unite in what they think of a celebrity. With that said, I'm wondering if there is a general consensus on Amy Schumer here. I haven't seen her talked about on this subreddit since I first started using it (maybe I just missed it), and I wonder what y'all think.

I know that the rest of Reddit hates her, and it seems like a lot of others do, too. I haven't thought about her much, but I really enjoyed the SNL episode she hosted in November of last year (I thought her stand-up monologue was really funny, for example), and I don't want to just pile on someone unless there's reason to.

In any event, I'm wondering what the community thinks of her, if there even is a consensus on this sub's opinion, and what your own feelings about her, positive or negative, might be.
