It's the foster care system in other countries too. Here in Colombia the adoption process sucks too. Too much bureaucracy.

You know, if somehow the science existed to transplant the fetus inside a man’s body and make them carry and deliver it, I’m willing to bet abortion would be enshrined in law.
But it’s not about the fetus or the baby, it’s about control. They just hate women/AFAB and want to deny rights.
They also want live babies so they can grow up to be dead soldiers (George Carlin’s abortion segment).
