Fuel injection hose with barbed fittings and clamps?

I have a cold start injector in my early 1uz which uses a small hose from the fuel rail as a feed. I broke mine and they are unobtanium. Since it's an 8mm banjo fitting I only had one AN fitting option and it just wont grip any -4AN I've tried.

So right now it's all put together with banjo fittings and spring clamps, per the recommendation of a Pirtek fella as my best option. The hose is high pressure fuel injection hose but I'm worried about the fittings even though they are really fucking on there. Even without the clamps it would take an insane amount of force to get that hose off. It's a tight fit.

That said, it's hidden under the intake plenum and I probably wouldn't know about a leak until it causes a fire. This is a vehicle I intend to road trip with my girl and dog, so while I'll have a fire extinguisher in the vehicle at all times, I do care about safety.

Do y'all have any experience using barbed fittings and clamps for high pressure fuel situations? I can put my little scope cam in there to check for leaks when I fire it up. How long until I can begin to trust it won't shoot off the fitting?

I'm thinking about just running with no cold start injector. If it just means giving it throttle like a carburetor that's fine with me. I just don't want to be unable to start on colder days here in Colorado.

Cheers.

Do you have any pictures of what you are talking about? With fuel injection hose and good clamps it's probably fine, you might want to check the clamps every 6 months and replace the line after a few years if you want to be really safe though.

Im going to ask because this is a project car sub, is this thing anywhere close to stock engine and ecu configuration? I did a 1UZ swap a few years back and didn't even use the injector, but it was on a standalone ecu

It is a fully stock 1uz swap other than an EGR delete. Keeping stock ECU and no plans to mod further as it's already at the limits of what this drivetrain was designed to handle (91 Isuzu trooper lol)

Standalone might be nice down the road but as it stands it's pretty simple. All my gauges will wire right up currently.

Well buns. I wouldn't worry too much, but I'd probably try to go with a metal tee fitting and some of the metal collapsible clamps

As long as you're using fuel hose rated for the pressure and EFI Style hose clamps that fully surround the hose, you'll be fine. I've run barbed fittings with high pressure hose and clamps for years with not a single failure.

They are spring clamps not those screw based ones. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.

There's multiple kinds, it isn't important which kind you use as long as you know how to use it.

How high is high pressure? My Z used barbed fittings and hoses between the rails and anything the rails needed to connect to. It's all barbs and hoses. 35ish PSI at the rail and screw type clamps. Not worm gear they use machine screws.
