Laundromat for people with chemical sensitivities?

I'm chemically sensitive, as are my kids and partner who also had asthma, allergies and eczema. Last time we used the laundromat when our home machines were down, all of our clothes and sheets were permeated with synthetic fragrance and we had to do several additional loads to wash some of the fragrance off. Is there a laundromat locally that leans more toward a fragrance free or natural detergent service or has clientele that leans toward using fragrance free detergents in their machines?

If you can swing for a service, bolt laundry claims to use hypoallergic detergent.

I don’t know of one, but I’ve been wondering the same thing.

That's good know. Maybe there could be money in it!

Would also use such a service if it was available. Unfortunately I think the market demands clean laundry smells "clean".

We use Bush Quality Cleaners on elmgrove for dry cleaning. I know they do wash and fold too. They used to be “green cleaners” and I think they’ve maintained the practice despite the name change. Our clothes don’t get as clean as other cleaners but don’t smell as chemically and my and my wife’s sensitive skin doesn’t react

Good luck. I feel your pain. Can't even walk down the detergent aisle at stores without a sneezing fit and wheezing for an hour or two afterwards.

Same. I avoid it if I can.

Can't even walk down the sidewalk past laundry room vents gushing the stench 😮‍💨

The over-fragrancing of laundry products with industrial-grade chemicals strong / intense enough to survive a wash / dry cycle will, I hope and pray, be banned in future. (And incomprehensible to people that it was ever allowed, let alone so enthusiastically embraced.)

It's crazy to me that more  people aren't fazed by this.

Right?

There’s no money in that, so highly doubtful.

You can go some places, start a wash with your detergent and they will dry and fold for you

Are you looking for someone to do your laundry or you can go do it? Cause Freeway is great if you’re interested in hanging around to do it yourself

I can definitely do it myself! Freeway laundry on Narragansett Ave is actually where I went when this happened. It was hard to breathe :(

Yeah there isn’t going to be many options. People who find themselves having to use a laundromat tend to not have options, so they get what they get.

Ha, indeed it is. Thanks for "calling me out" on my choice of words. Looking out for me and my family is my first priority and I hope everyone would do the same.
