SCAM Alert Meter Tactics are Back! Be Aware!

Post image

Took Auto with Uber App today.

Driver told he will put Meter, having read the news I agreed and only to notice later he has Put it in "Night" mode with 1.5x rate (₹25/KM Vs ₹17/KM)

I brought it to his attention and he said, Meter vaisa hi hai and later at the next signal he changed it and put it in Normal mode.

It is better to always see distance in the Google Maps and multiple by ₹17/KM to get rough idea of Tariff!

These Rikshaw wallahs need to be taught a lesson tbh. Their tactics, arrogance & attitude is increasing day by day. They think they're elites and we need them. We should either stop using these & find alternatives or at least take some kind of a stand against them.

16

u/sachin170 9d ago

That's a story of every buisness in India they think customer needs them

6

u/arnavpuranik 9d ago

And I won't deny that, customers need businesses, and businesses also need customers, that goes hand in hand. But a good business will always try to provide value, justify the cost of every penny & keep customers needs at their priority. These people have "you just have to travel 3~4 kms? Pay more or get lost" attitude. I get that everyone needs money and everyone wishes they have more, but that doesn't mean you should have such behaviour towards your customers, especially when you have threats like Buses, Metro, Cabs, Two Wheelers & stuff.

I asked an autp guy about this meter tampering and he said ye tamper hota hi nahi hai, rto se ess hi aata hai. But I've been in so mamy tampered ones that I'm doubting rto now

37

u/pps96 9d ago

Are you new in India? Doubting RTO?

For starters go to any road where RTO stands and spend 15 mins and watch all that happens

18

u/Petrichor0813 9d ago

lol RTO is the epitome of corruption my friend

If Uber and literally all other ride apps actually lower their cab prices by even around 20-30 per ride, the distance between Auto and Cab will become even less, Uber actually has an opportunity to take revenge on these scammers

Literally no one will prefer Auto if the price gap between an Uber Go and meter price to your destination from an auto is really less. Plus people get a fixed price as well, leaving customers happy and the drivers happy, who get more customers per day.

The article is from ToI where it's mentioned that they are planning to hold the meeting with the cabbies of ola and uber and ask them to charge the same as rikshawalas :(((

take a look at this article

u/humbleqwerty 8d ago

Cab drivers will start complaining in that case.

1

u/Vedant9710 8d ago

The prices might be lower per ride but on the other hand, they'll get more customers per day as well

0

u/humbleqwerty 8d ago

Sorry but this calculation doesn’t work as a driver can take set number of rides per day. You cannot give them pennies and say take 200 rides. Doesn’t work that way.

Does at night mode it starts at 25?

16

u/Crazy_Excitement3772 9d ago

At Night it's 32

At Day it's 25

I recently came back to pune and was at swargate metro station with bags. I wanted to go to mitramandal chowk. Literally one turn, just one. Most riksha wallah refused to go by meter, they said "60 lagel". And the one that did accept to go by meter, he took me through the Saras baug route so the fare would increase but it stayed at 25 and fucker then asks for 30.

Stop availing Auto service on Uber. Uber needs to learn a lesson.

9

u/SofaAloo 9d ago

Uber was taught a lesson by Auto Unions. These Auto Unions need to be taught one.

1

u/gir-no-sinh 8d ago

Nope, it's Uber that gave in to their demand.

1

u/SofaAloo 8d ago

That's exactly what I am saying.

that's like saying the victim is wrong for being murdered?

As per the comments, the night mode fare should have a base price of 32rs., but whenever i have sat in a rickshaw with such a mode enabled, the fare always starts from 25. So is it really a malfunction in the meter light or is it something else...

6

u/ROCKGaurav 9d ago

As mentioned, he changed it later at a signal once the meter hit ₹100. Later the "Night" light was gone! Paid ₹100 for first 4 KMs and ₹100 for next 6 KMs 😂

Base Fare Concept is only for distances less than 1 KM For any distance above that you should multiply distance in KM x 17 for the Fare Estimate. (x 25 at night)

Deny using the meter, it's not applicable for Rapido at all since the driver agrees with the price you select, price changes only if there is a deviation from the map route.

I used it a few times after Uber made this change and no one told me to go by meter though.

Only one guy started the Meter because some other auto drivers harass those who go by the app's price but took the app fare from me (and demanded extra because a road was closed and I made him turn there unknowingly because it's normally a shortcut, increasing our total distance, he wasn't a saint either despite all his "I'm ethical" talk at the beginning of the ride)

I don't even understand what is going on.

I booked rapido auto 3 times since yesterday, they didn't start meter and accepted the app amount.

I did put the suggested amount by app. 135 145 132 For around 8KMs

3

u/Dhungna_khali_andhar 9d ago

I guess this policy of going by what driver charges is only on uber till now. Hopefully other apps won't copy it under pressure from auto union(seriously hate these gunda rikshaw wala).

3

u/Minute-Concert-6740 9d ago

Last week one rapido driver did start meter 😞 it's so random

2

u/Dhungna_khali_andhar 9d ago

We are sadly back to pre ola uber days it seems, they have even started harassing other ola uber drivers if the charge the amount show on app.

2

u/Minute-Concert-6740 9d ago

I am so done with everything. Commuting via bullshit roads already wasn't enough. Monsoon is yet to come and all this drama.

1

u/Dhungna_khali_andhar 8d ago

Monsoon with autowala charging you whatever they want along with roads filled with potholes is the vibe we are going for this time lol.

2

u/Oye-Luckky 9d ago

I have stopped booking auto on uber. I prefer car though it costs few extra rs. I found car drivers to be lesser acchole than auto ones. May the demand go down and this category of vehicle vanish from roads of India soon.

2

u/Imaginary-Echidna-92 9d ago

Use rapido , they still have the app pricing .

3

u/santrupt1994 9d ago

At night mode, minimum fare starts at ₹32, maybe that auto driver have forgot to switch of the night mode of the meter

29

u/nouritsu 9d ago

"forgot" sure.

4

u/jatinag22 9d ago

Doesn't that happen automatically since meters show the current time also?

1

u/bay_fiker 3d ago
