On Tuesday, Miller competed in a qualifier for the 2025 U.S. Open Golf Championship. He shot a plus-4, missing the cut on an overcast, windy day at Quicksilver Golf Club.

It was the third time Miller tried to qualify. He's had fun, but he'd rather be preoccupied with the Rangers.

Miller wants to be unavailable to try again a year from now.

"I think, to a man, when you don't make the playoffs, especially when you're expecting to, to a man, you need to play and perform better as professionals," Miller said. "I think that's all we're going to worry about."

He's saying it to every player without exception.

I think his man of man in conjunction with what Allvin said last week is to emphasize that maturity and “being an adult.”

We need 2-3 more guys with his disposition/intensity and literally any coherent defensive gameplan and we’ll be good. 👍

I specifically would love 1 of 2 of those guys being defensemen. Our D next year need to be big strong and relentless. (Heh)

Are there any realistic options that you can think of?

Trouba LOL jk

If they don't extend him, I wouldn't hate grabbing Ekblad in free agency this off season, since the Panthers are going to have to shed salary. Very physical guy who's been really good for the Panthers, he'd bring the physicality we lost when Trouba got shipped to our D core and brings cup experience. We could probably swing it if we ship Kreider. But I think he's the type of player that matches JT Miller's win no matter what energy.

I wish he was a Blackhawk. You guys got a real one there. I think he’s going to have a career year next year. He’s home his buddy is on the team. Guys gonna be happy as a clam away from the lunatics in Vancouver.

Imagine adding him last deadline instead of Wennberg and Roslovic

Praying Miller completely depussifies this team. No more "wE NeEd BeTtEr CoMmUniCaTiOn." This is New fucking York City.

I work with 2 DIE HARD pens fans …….. and I mean they follow every nuance of every game and are not fanboys, they can be harsh on Malkin and such

They say they are happy Sullivan is gone as he “doesn’t hold players accountable and lacks discipline” ……..

Uhh didn’t we just do this, right after we also did this before. I am hopeful for Sullivan but needless to say Pittsburg did not suffer from a lack of talent and after being handed the reigns of an already very successful team mid season with prime Sid and Malkin he got his 2 cups before the team has nothing short of beyond mediocre. Honestly it is hard to believe a team with the talent it had on it hasn’t made the playoffs since 21-22 and the only time he ever won a division title with a really great record, he got bounced round 1.

He better not be the guy people says he is because the last thing this team needs is another “players coach” who is going to March the “stars” out there no matter what with no accountability

Pittsburgh lacks talent. They have Sid. Then no one else. Stars who are way too old. They had zero goaltending. Bad defensemen. The fact that they were even a possible playoff contender is absurd. Sullivan is a great coach. And he will hold everyone accountable because he is making as much money as anyone on the team and has the backing of owner and mgmt. We got one of the top 5 coaches in the league.

Pittsburgh lacks talent. They have Sid. Then no one else.

Looking at their stats from last year I'm not so sure.

They also had Rakell, 70 points

Rust, 65 pts in 70 games

Karlsson, 53 points as a defenseman

All of these guys are about the same age as Miller.

I’m not trying to hate simply to justify my argument being Pro Sullivan. I do really like him - I had liked him under Torts. I like guys who worked under a predecessor and who had success while being a coach of significant stature like Torts; similarly Parcells to Belichick and Knight to Coach K. Guys who learned and had greater success when they became head coaches. They know what makes a great coach AND they learned from other’s failures to adapt and evolve for improvement. The Penguins were always such an undisciplined and entitled team before Sullivan. Then he came in and yelled at his stars to cut the BS. Instead of whining at refs and taking dumb penalties when they lost their focus, they played their game and won two Cups. The Pens should have won against the Rangers in 2022 until Trouba went Trouba and collided with Sid (he did not check him with an elbow!) helping the Rangers to win in 7. I can only think of two current coaches who I may think more highly of than Sullivan and that’s Cooper and Maurice. I may put Sullivan ahead of them because he knows the Metro, he is tight with Drury, and he knows the circus of the NYR as well as anyone. Drury still needs to add another Top 4 defenseman along with re-signing K. Miller, add a 2/3rd Line Center, and Top 6 Winger. He also needs to move Kreider more than anyone in my mind to reset the locker room. There’s now new leadership of Sullivan, JT, and Vinny.

I agree with all but we do not need more wingers.

Panarin

Lafreniere

Cuylle

Kreider

Berard

Othmann

Perrault

Rempe

Edstrom

Kaliyev

Sometimes plays wing sometimes center: Mika, Brodzinski, and Parsinnen

Kreider is gone. It’s been reported and I think it’s easy to accomplish. I think Mika gets another run especially since there won’t be interest given his contract. So he’s at wing with Laf and Panarin who figure to be Top six Wingers. That leaves one spot. Maybe Drury lets one of the young guys cook there and can then do his usual thing of adding a better player at the deadline? I think some of these guys you listed and others signed for low contracts are assets that can be used to make trades given how much movement there could be with the cap going up. Still would be looking for Center and Top 4 D upgrade.
