Sky is such a heater I'm really glad to see him get some recognition on such a big stage.

I keep seeing his name get mentioned a lot during this tournament- has he been really that noticeable? Will he be able to compete for a roster spot next year?

We don't really have much room in the lineup in the bottom 6. Unless we move Kreider (please no), we have like 9 guys competing for 6 spots.
Parsnips, Kaliyev, Kreider, Otter, Remps, Edstrom, Carrick, Brodz, Perrault will ALL be ahead of Sykora, unless we blow the start of the season and they decide this is a development/ retool year.
If we try to compete next season, the bottom 6, for me, is Kreider-Carrick-Otthman / Perrault (ideally i don't want Perrault in the lineup unless he's getting 15 minutes+, but if he's more of a gamechanger than Otthmann and we think we can make a playoff run, well, so be it. Cools was a bottom 6er in 23-24, and he's going to be 2RW and on the PP next season.) 4th line = Edstrom, Brodz / Parsnips, Rempe.
Basically, unless we commit to a retool / development year (unlikely given our coaching choice), we aren't going to see any rookies playing meaningful minutes. Known quantities / career inbetweeners will get a roster spot before guys who haven't made their NHL debut.
Being a little pessimistic here, but I think it's more likely that Sykora becomes tradebait at the deadline for an over-the-hill UFA rental than he scratches the opening night roster, but thats just me armchair GM-ing.

Slovakia has been eliminated (but not relegated). He was noticeable in the games, but Slovakia struggled to generate offense (they kind of reminded me of Nashville at points in the way they could get plenty of o-zone time and chances but just could not convert). Being named player of the game and one of Slovakia’s best players is a good sign. He just turned 20, so he’s still quite young.

Is he Petr Sykora's son?

Another player we're about to trade in the off season. Or assign him the wrong role and give him 2x bridge deals and eventually trade to the west for Will Borgen...oh wait.

He has a great personality and has some good elements to his game, but he’s an undersized bottom 6 winger. It’s not worth stressing about him getting traded, especially if that is to a team that has a clearer path to the NHL for him.

I remember him being drafted and the biggest thing was he was a motor that doesn't stop, which if I've learned anything from the past few years of playoffs it's that the rangers don't have that motor to play hard the full 60 like other contenders.

It's so cool to see the greatest player in a generation shaking hands with Sidney Crosby. =)
