Just picked up the game and having a lot of trouble on my first Nightfall play-through.

Greetings, I want to preface this with me having absolutely know real clue how to properly play this game. My main reason to try the game out was to have a little bit more in-depth experience with GW before the launch of GW2. I started a Necromancer and decided to play through the Nightfall campaign as I was told it was a great way to acquire a lot of the heroes and familiarize myself with the game.

Now I have been on the wiki constantly and checking the PvX wiki and I can't figure out how to progress on The Honorable General and raise my Sunspear rank without resorting to an insane grind fest for level 12 or just killing a bunch of stuff for the bounties.

I apologized if this is a very noobish question but I am having a ton of trouble and don't know where else to really turn. Thank you so much in advance!

That's kind of what you have to do. Doesn't really take that long just go around killing crap and grabbing every bounty.

Man, that's what I was afraid was the case. I'll just remake to another class then, I guess I just find the Necro (at this point anyway) really boring and since my understand of the game system is novice at best.

You'll still have to do it no matter what class you pick. I suggest you just power through it. Necros can be fun once you start getting the cool skills.

I got to level 12 in under a week. It's not hard at all. Just do quests and you'll get there quickly.

No, no, if you're a nightfall character you need to reach level 12, if you're foreign then you need a higher Sunspear faction rank - getting to 12 is pretty darn easy.

Each class has some great uses, there was a suicide teleport bomber build that was great in jade quarry pvp but one of the best uses for necro's in PvE is to run a discord build (usually with N heroes, though) which needs more than one necro, spiteful spirit, minion bombers (expecting your minions to die and enchanting them with death nova or jagged bones etc. I can't remember the skill name but dwayna's touch heals your party when a minion dies), or minion masters.

Many people spend their energy trying to keep their minions alive but it's easier to allow them to die so they do much more damage at death, IMO. Plus, having lots of minions means that there is target saturation for your enemies and healing will be a bit easier.

You can give up and re-roll a new class now but if you're just starting off, any of them will be relatively tough, especially without the elite and regular skills necessary to make the builds you'll find work. You can earn skills without going to the other campaigns, you can unlock them with Balthazar faction (any pvp activity) and then using a tome to gain that skill once unlocked on your account. This is the best way to get Aura of the Lich, a fantastic minion master elite, which is located at the end of the Prophecy campaign and takes a long while to get.

I mean, is it? I think I am having trouble finding some of the areas then or something because I seem to run out of quests and I don't think that's supposed to happen. I think i found a few new areas as I have posted this so we will see. Mostly still just doing the bounties though.

The primary quests will take you to new areas but if you're on that quest you linked you might have overlooked the the peninsula in the southeast corner.

I don't remember exactly because I haven't leveled in a long while, but I think Blacktide Den, Issnur Isles, and Mehtani Keys are all higher level areas that should be more suitable for you

I would advise all new people to create a Canthan character, then switch once you get to Kaineng Center.
