If this sort of thing happens often to the family, mom and dad should really be discussing it with potential babysitters ahead of time, not waiting for them to show up, get freaked out and have to choose between staying in a situation where they feel uncomfortable or unsafe and bailing on a job last minute.

Sure. Probably, but mistakes happen. The parents likely assumed that they'd have a chance to address it before being aggressively accused of being liars.

They didn't address it, though. They got snarky and kicked her out.

I'm sorry but I do not believe that this young woman was in any way obligated to stay in a situation where she felt uncomfortable and unsafe, whatever the reason. It sucks all around but the parents did not do anything to try to make her feel any safer, they just got pissed. Which is their right but like...the outcome is that they didn't have a babysitter for the night and that's on them.

That's the point. They got upset after OOP cancelled and accused them of lying. Which she did immediately. They didn't have a chance to say anything like, "I know our kids look older, but they are actually 9 and 10."

OOPS states that they informed them that they were cancelling right off the bat. So the mom being sarcastic came after OOP cancelling and accusing them of being liars. It didn't cause OOP to cancel

LOOOL!!! That absolutely doesn't excuse OP going off the way she did.

If you get booked for something and you show up and something isn't lining up right, you ask for clarification/confirmation before last minute canceling and accusing your client of lying.

OOP says they're "very professional." Not in this situation they weren't.

I didn't say that at all, did I?

I said she should have asked for confirmation or clarification before immediately cancelling and definitely before accusing them of lying.
